Jul 13, 2012 - Decatur, in

We have spent the past week at the Fleetwood service center, having maintenance on the Eagle. We have been ready each morning at 6 am to be taken to the shop. Yes, Ray was up at 5:45 each day. Ray was able to observe the techs and has learned more about the systems on the Eagle. Obie and Reggie have seen men come in and out. Our main tech was Ernie, he has 2 cats and was very nice to ours. It did not rain at all and has been 60 degrees in the mornings. The Salvation Army store is about a half mile away, and I checked out the half price...

Sep 14, 2011 - Fleetwood Factory

Spent 2 days at the Fleetwood Factory getting new day/night shades and motors for 2 slides...Took the plant tour which was awesome and would like to do it again as I would learn a lot more. Tom was a great tour guide being at Fleetwood for over 20 years and Mike Denst was a super Service Advisor. John did the work to perfection and has been at Fleetwood over 30 years...all great people.

Sep 13, 2010 - Decatur, Indiana

We arrived in Decatur, Indiana September 13th. We came to visit the American Coach Service and to have a few items fixed on the motorhome before we take off to the west coast. They also had our window ready. We have been traveling for months with that spider web window, it will be nice to be able to see out of it again. They do excellent work and treat you like kings when you visit. They told us to find any parking space out of the 60 available and hook up to 50 amps electric all for free. They also had water and a dump station. It's not...

Jul 20, 2009 - Fleetwood Plant

I drove 450 miles on July 19th, which is a record or close to it for me! There was a lot of construction going on in Illinois and I was glad to get off the freeways and onto US 24. But that meant that I needed to go through small towns, slowing to 25 mph, but going 55 mph between them - about 7 miles or so. It was a long day. One of the holes in the road that I couldn't go around because of oncoming traffic made the brakes come on in the car! jeez - that wears down the brakes very fast! It corrected itself by the time I came to a near stop,...

We drove over to the service center and they put us in a site (electric only) in their parking lot overnight, free of charge, and came for the Bounder the next morning at 0630. By 1430 they were all done, everything worked perfectly, and we hit the road, only 2 days off our intended schedule.

Our Great Adventure

Jun 12, 2009 - Decatur, IN and nearby towns

At first Decatur seemed to be a small town in the middle of nowhere, with no not to offer in the way of things to do, restaurants, etc. However, we quickly found that it is a delightful area of the country. Fleetwood is one of the largest factories in this small city and many other businesses are dependent on Fleetwood for their own survival. Fleetwood is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and has therefore had to let close to a 1,000 of their employees go. Everyone is hopeful that they will be purchased by another company and business will resume to...

Where's Mama ???

Jun 12, 2009 - Our Week at the Fleetwood Factory, Decatur, IN

Wow - what a BUSY week we have had! We arrived at the Fleetwood American Coach factory in Decatur, Indiana last Sunday afternoon, June 7. We came here to have Fleetwood do paint repairs on the roof of the coach, fix leaks in the slides, correct electrical problems and other misc. stuff. We were scheduled to leave here today, which is FAST compared to many of the other people who are here to have their RV's fixed. However, we decided to stay until Monday so they can take one more look at some electrical issues and hopefully correct them...

I am very happy to report all the repairs have been done. We will be on the road again in the morning. We are heading to Joliet, Indiana. We are planning on taking a tour from there into Chicago. We can't wait to explore the Chicago area. I am adding a few more pictures of some of the places we shopped at while waiting here for repairs. I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Apr 5, 2008 - Waiting In Line

We are getting closer and closer to getting our repairs done. The parts are in, but we are having to wait our turn. The repair area is packed with RV’s. These were the lucky people that did get appointments. :-) Boy oh boy, we sure wish we had been able to get that appointment. It’s been hard waiting for our turn, but hey, we have free parking and electric. I can’t complain too much. We are hoping they get the work done on ours tomorrow.

Apr 3, 2008 - Geocaching & Amish

Today we went for a scenic drive in the country and found a couple of geocaches. One of the caches was really wet on the outside, but the plastic bag protected the paper and pencil and goodies inside. We signed the cache and dried it off a bit and put it back where it was. This is such a beautiful area for geocaching. We passed so many big red Amish barns and Amish homes in the area. It was a beautiful day, we also had a nice picnic in the country. We are making the best of our wait in the parking lot in Decatur. :-)
