Jul 13, 2012 - Decatur, in

We have spent the past week at the Fleetwood service center, having maintenance on the Eagle. We have been ready each morning at 6 am to be taken to the shop. Yes, Ray was up at 5:45 each day. Ray was able to observe the techs and has learned more about the systems on the Eagle. Obie and Reggie have seen men come in and out. Our main tech was Ernie, he has 2 cats and was very nice to ours. It did not rain at all and has been 60 degrees in the mornings. The Salvation Army store is about a half mile away, and I checked out the half price...

Spent 2 days at the Fleetwood Factory getting new day/night shades and motors for 2 slides...Took the plant tour which was awesome and would like to do it again as I would learn a lot more. Tom was a great tour guide being at Fleetwood for over 20 years and Mike Denst was a super Service Advisor. John did the work to perfection and has been at Fleetwood over 30 years...all great people.

We arrived in Decatur, Indiana September 13th. We came to visit the American Coach Service and to have a few items fixed on the motorhome before we take off to the west coast. They also had our window ready. We have been traveling for months with that spider web window, it will be nice to be able to see out of it again. They do excellent work and treat you like kings when you visit. They told us to find any parking space out of the 60 available and hook up to 50 amps electric all for free. They also had water and a dump station. It's not...

Jul 20, 2009 - Fleetwood Plant

I drove 450 miles on July 19th, which is a record or close to it for me! There was a lot of construction going on in Illinois and I was glad to get off the freeways and onto US 24. But that meant that I needed to go through small towns, slowing to 25 mph, but going 55 mph between them - about 7 miles or so. It was a long day. One of the holes in the road that I couldn't go around because of oncoming traffic made the brakes come on in the car! jeez - that wears down the brakes very fast! It corrected itself by the time I came to a near stop,...

We drove over to the service center and they put us in a site (electric only) in their parking lot overnight, free of charge, and came for the Bounder the next morning at 0630. By 1430 they were all done, everything worked perfectly, and we hit the road, only 2 days off our intended schedule.

Our Great Adventure

Jun 12, 2009 - Our Week at the Fleetwood Factory, Decatur, IN

Wow - what a BUSY week we have had! We arrived at the Fleetwood American Coach factory in Decatur, Indiana last Sunday afternoon, June 7. We came here to have Fleetwood do paint repairs on the roof of the coach, fix leaks in the slides, correct electrical problems and other misc. stuff. We were scheduled to leave here today, which is FAST compared to many of the other people who are here to have their RV's fixed. However, we decided to stay until Monday so they can take one more look at some electrical issues and hopefully correct them...

Where's Mama ???

Jun 12, 2009 - Decatur, IN and nearby towns

At first Decatur seemed to be a small town in the middle of nowhere, with no not to offer in the way of things to do, restaurants, etc. However, we quickly found that it is a delightful area of the country. Fleetwood is one of the largest factories in this small city and many other businesses are dependent on Fleetwood for their own survival. Fleetwood is in Chapter 11 bankruptcy and has therefore had to let close to a 1,000 of their employees go. Everyone is hopeful that they will be purchased by another company and business will resume to...

Where's Mama ???

Apr 5, 2008 - Decatur, Indiana

We arrived in Decatur, Indiana March 31. We came to visit the American Coach Factory and to have a few items fixed on the motorhome before we take off to Alaska. Our patio arms were not working right so they had to order new ones. We could not get a date appointment because they were so booked up. We had to wait until they had time and it took 5 days but it was worth it. They do excellent work and treat you like kings when you visit. They told us to find any parking space out of the 60 available and hook up to 50 amps electric all for free....

Sep 25, 2007 - From Decatur, IN

From the RV hospital in Decatur, IN We are once again "camping" in the parking lot of a RV service center. Although you can't beat the price (free) the scenery hasn't changed much in the past 6 days. Our appointment on Thursday was pushed back to Monday due to a "rush job" that they apparently didn't rush fast enough. On Monday we went through our list with the service technician. He seemed to think everything should be fixable and shouldn't take "too long". We took a tour of the Fleetwood manufacturing plant last Friday, after they had...

Sep 4, 2007 - Indiana - Decatur to Goshen to Decatur

Sept 4th, we are in courtesy parking for the Fleetwood Motor Homes. We are registered to take a factory tour tomorrow at 1 p.m. Hank has some questions for the folks here & is going to try to talk to some of the Fleetwood people. How long we will be here depends on several things so we will see. In the meantime we have 50 amp electric service & the air conditioner is going full blast, so we are all comfortable. After coming out of Canada (Kingston was 68 degrees this afternoon) this temp here of 89/90 feels like 100 degrees to us. We don't...
