Jul 16, 2014 - Fleetwood

We registered with the office yesterday and were called first thing this AM, really good service! The parking lot doesn't look as congested as when we were here in June so this may have been the best option to come back mid July. The toilet was taken out and a new pump put into it - the seal was leaking and it was only a matter of time so it's great they had the part and could do the work so quickly. The slide is just the way it is - per Fleetwood the track just isn't quite square and there really isn't anything that can be done. At least...

2014 Eagle trip

Jul 14, 2014 - Back in the USA

We took a long drive today. First we went through the border and had no problems, just a question whether the cats were vaccinated and if we were bringing back goat or lamb. Then we were diverted off I75 in the UP and went unevently over the Mackinaw bridge. A long drive straight through Michigan, we hit some rain around Lansing but it cleared up as we got into Decatur. The parking lot looks full but we found a spot - we are closer to the building than we've ever been and could hear the sounds of the paint shop all the next day. It's warmer...

2014 Eagle trip

Jun 8, 2014 - Fleetwood

We set up at Fleetwood last night, good thing a we had heavy rain all night and morning. We are on the last row between two vacant coaches. There is a 2006 heritage here with our color scheme. The lot is pretty full with many Monaco products, one couple from Ontario have a gas 2013 holiday rambler from hell. Monday we went into the shop at 6 am like clockwork, identified problems and had some fixed. Found out the left side camera is the problem and they believe they have one but it's in Elkhart at a rally. Our 5 top lights are leaking and...

Jun 6, 2014 - Trees to these

Today we drove to Decatur and set up at the home/shop of Greg Mies, Trees to These. On the way we sat in traffic stoppage on I65 north of Louisville. The highway is in terrible shape all the way from Louisville to Indianapolis. The smooth amish country roads getting to the shop were a relief, we did see 3-4 amish buggies on the road. Greg was ready for us, took measurements and the frame from the bedroom TV into the shop to start working that evening. The next AM, Greg was back at work, finished both TV's and rehabbed the door on the living...

April 11 2014. Fleetwood Manufacturing offers tours of the manufacturing facility Monday - Friday at 9am. I recommend Friday, as the plant has minimal staffing and the noise level is relatively low. Your host is Tom Liechty. Tom's knowledge of the assembly process is based on his 30 years in the industry. Contact Tom at 1800 854 1344 and schedule your tour. You won't be disappointed. Thanks Tom

Taken by Storm

Aug 5, 2013 - Fleetwood

We made it through Chicago and into Decatur in one day. The EZ Pass was the only way we did it, saved at least 45 minutes by not needing to stop a toll booths. It also helped that the major back up on the interstate in Chicago was on the opposite side. There is a 7 flags amusement park and cars were stopped for 2 exits on the interstate waiting to get into it. Fleetwood was busy and were unable to take us a day early, so we started up at 6 AM on Tuesday. We have a new advisor - Neil and a new tech - Annie. Both very good. Annie started out...

Aug 1, 2013 - Fleetwood Factory Tour

Wednesday, July 31st We took the Fleetwood Motorhome Factory Tour. Since there was only one other couple on the tour, and we both had diesel motorhomes, the tour concentrated on diesel motorhomes and we were able to get close to the production line. Fleetwood builds to order and a many of the orders were for 43-45 ft high-end motorhomes. During the tour we walked through one of the high-end motorhomes and a Discovery. Sorry, no pictures, cameras aren’t allowed in the factory. Thursday, Aug 1st Fleetwood completed all the repairs today on...

Jul 30, 2013 - RV/MH Hall of Fame, Elkhart, Indiana

Tuesday, July 30th Fleetwood Service took the motorhome at 6:10am this morning. While they worked on our motorhome… We boarded the Golden Girls (Sierra and Tipper) today so we could do some site seeing. We headed to the town of Shipshewana, where there’s a large flea market ever Tuesday and Wednesday. Of course we bought home a few things. Then we were off to Elkhart, Indiana where we toured the RV/MH Hall of Fame that had trailers dating back to the early 1900’s. We spent well over an hour walking around and checking out the early...

Jul 29, 2013 - At Fleetwood's Service Center

Sunday, July 28th Yesterday we had an un-eventful the trip from Westfield, NY to Decatur, In. We parked the motorhome at Fleetwood’s Service Center, where we’ll stay until the repairs are completed. Fleetwood provides 50 amp electric hookups, and has a dump station and water available. Monday, July 29th Fleetwood Service starts their day at 6am, so we were up before 5am and had the motorhome ready for them to take at 6. I ‘checked in’ the motorhome at 6am and they took the motorhome at 6:10am. The first thing they did was tackle the loud...

G&L's Travels

Jul 5, 2013 - The end of Dacatur/Fleetwood

7-3-13, Wednesday We got up early and headed for Decatur, where we arrived at the Fleetwood Motor Home Factory for a tour at 9:00am. As it turns out, we were the only 4 people on the tour. The sales coordinator, Tom Lieghty, gave us a tour that lasted about 3 hours. We covered all of the stages from the Purchased chassis for diesels and gas rigs to all of the fiberglass and cabinet assembly. The plant has 3 main production lines, each used based on the size of the rig. They have over 1,300 employees at the manufacturing plant. The process...

Jul 13, 2012 - Decatur, in

We have spent the past week at the Fleetwood service center, having maintenance on the Eagle. We have been ready each morning at 6 am to be taken to the shop. Yes, Ray was up at 5:45 each day. Ray was able to observe the techs and has learned more about the systems on the Eagle. Obie and Reggie have seen men come in and out. Our main tech was Ernie, he has 2 cats and was very nice to ours. It did not rain at all and has been 60 degrees in the mornings. The Salvation Army store is about a half mile away, and I checked out the half price...
