Jul 31, 2020 - HOME TOWN

We arrived in my home town to take in the slights of this small town in Indiana. I was raise in this town until I was sixteen and then our family moved to Florida. I would come back to this town every some many years to visit my old high school friends and to see the town. My granddad helped to built the buildings in Robert's park. During in late 1930's the C.C.C people started to build the buildings and road way in this park. We wanted to see the park and as we arrived there was the Fair going on with all the rides and of course we had to...

Aug 3, 2015 - Three Stage Cache Hunt for QUEST FOR THE CHEST

We were out in the country side of Connersville , Indiana and we found a three stage cahe to look for or to go hunting. We had to go to the first stage to get the cords to the second stage and so on, until we get to the final to sign the log book. The first stage was cords to a pvc pipe that looked some what like a anchor. We had to be able to get the coords to be able to get to the second stage. We had to lower a pvc pipe I had in my truck with duct tape on the end to be able to stick to the coords and bring it out of the pipe. The second...

Aug 1, 2015 - CONNERSVILLE

Growing up as a kid in the 50's you had to work around the house to get some money to spend at the store. I had to take out the coal ashes from the furnace to the alley to be dumped in the 50 gallon drum. We burned paper and other things that would burn in the 50 gal drum and at the end of the week the trash man would drive down the alley to empty the trash drum. I also had to sweep the hallway and stairs above the Mid-way hobby shop on the weekend for extra cash. That hallway was about a mile long and the stairs was a mile high. My...

Aug 4, 2011 - MY HOME TOWN

We made it to my home town of Connersville as a base to be able to go out in to the country to see about geocaching in the area. We found a wonderful waterfall in Richmond where I had gone as a kid to swim and walk in the creek to look for crawl dads and some fishing on shore. This place was where we would go camping as we grew older and the place where we would stop to see the falls at night with our girlfriends. We went over to Glen Miller park where back in the 40's, Mr Miller was playing concerts in the park for my mother to enjoy as a...

Aug 4, 2011 - Things Are Smellling

We have been here now for three days and got to see my friends and went out to eat. We ran around town and did some Geocaching in the country. Norma had some trees in her yard when growing up as a kid in PA. She saw these trees growing along side of the old whitewater canal, the canal was filled in with dirt. You can still see the walking path along side the railroad tracks where the animals would pull the grain barges on the toll path from Connersville to Indianapolis.Barges were the main transportation for getting grain and farm items to...

Oct 9, 2010 - Old Fashion Train Ride

Today we decided to take a side trip and ride an old fashion train. We rode our wagon to Connersville, IN., where we boarded the train for a 1 /1/2 hour ride to a town called Metomora. Our ride took us through the country side parallel to the old canal channel and along the Whitewater River. The water was very low and we could see the large fish swimming from the train. During our ride the conductors and brakemen/women sang songs. They explained sites along the way including the gas pump cemetery, the car cemetery, and oil drum cemetery. We...

Aug 26, 2010 - Time To Head Back Home

This was to be a one week vacation to Ohio for the Geocaching Event, it turned out to be more then three weeks and a few more miles then what we were going to drive. We were going to drive up to Ohio and back, we did a few side trips like Michigan, Indiana. All in all it was a nice trip, we enjoyed the slow pace of driving and to be able to go where we had no plans on going to. We enjoyed small towns and the fun of what we may see along the way of life.

Aug 11, 2010 - MY HOME TOWN

I get to come up to Connersville every few years to see the town and my boy hood friends from years ago. I went to school with John from the first grade to junior in high school before I had to move to Florida. So when I get close to Indiana, I need to stop by and say hi to my old school friend from years ago. We get to set on the front porch of his house, like we did when we were fifteen years old. We would talk about the years to come and what we want to do, now we talk about the years in the past of what we did and what we want in years...
