Jul 22, 2016 - Another state bites the dust
July 22, 2016 Woke up to rain, but not enough to wash the windshield. Just after we got going, more rain. I may actually get all the bugs off my side. Why do more of them hit my side and not Mike’s? Windows are clean time for more bugs. Spending the night at Cloverdale RV Campground, it is about 30 miles west of Indianapolis. Probably was a KOA at one time, now privately owned, beautifully landscaped. Only 30 amp but we could run 1 AC so that kept us cool. If anyone is keeping track of us on a map we tend to skirt around large cities...Jump to full entry
Aug 29, 2015 - The best laid plans . . .
As is my habit, this afternoon I looked for the website of the campground we're scheduled to stay in tomorrow night. Closed. Permanently. Neither RV park reviews nor Good Sam has this information. And what a hassle it is to try to keep to the daily mileage (nothing over 300 miles) in Missouri. I do have a place for tomorrow night, but it really messes up our whole schedule. Not that it would matter if we take an extra day to get to Las Vegas, but Ron really wants the whole thing to be over. Temperature in Cumberland, Maryland, yesterday:...Jump to full entry
Sep 12, 2012 - Cloverdale RV camp
today was just a drive day moving along the roadways towards maryland, passing thru 3 states, mo., ind., and ill. our todays photos are just road shots, passing the arch in st louis (been there, done it) so we didn't stop... i am glad we picked this route of i-70 because it just re affirms my reason why we stay away from it in most of our travel, too busy, too much forever roadwork and every truck in america are on it... today's...Jump to full entry
Apr 4, 2012 - Indiana wants me. . .
Second Actual Day on the Road Two things occurred to me after I posted last night. First, the trailer will not crash into the truck if the brakes fail, the hitch would prevent that from happening. Instead, the trailer is likely to push the truck off the road. Second, not everyone is necessarily familiar with “Noah’s Ark to be built on this space” in Frostburg, Maryland. From their web page (http://www.godsark.org/the-ark-project/index.html ) “Nestled in the hills of western Maryland along a busy Interstate 68, a modern-day Noah's Ark is...Jump to full entry
Dec 10, 2011 - On a zipline home
Thanks to Tom and Pat, friends from the 87th Infantry Division Legacy Association, for putting me up for the night in Edwardsville. I was lucky because all of the local campgrounds were closed for the winter. If it wasn't for them, I'd have spent the night in Camp Walmart and a cold night it would have been. After visiting the Stiegemeiers in Staunton this morning, I headed east again through central Illinois. Good luck and get well Billy. I traveled along US route 40 for a little while and added a few roadside attractions to the menagerie...Jump to full entry
Nov 5, 2011 - On the Road Again!
Howdy, We are on the road to Arizona. We got a late start today after being out late with Paul and Kay Cross for dinner. Their employee, "JT", and his girlfriend, Casey also joined us at the Adams Lake Pub - very scenic setting, nice atmosphere and good food. Kay & Paul are great. Not only do they serve the needs of the RV community very well but they have become good friends. We will miss them but we will stay in touch and see them again (whether we need repairs or not). We also had a few errands to do this morning. Once on the road, we...Jump to full entry
