Sep 25, 2013 - Gas Station Bingo?

9/25/2013. Wednesday. Gas Station Bingo? When the Sun creeps up in the East you just don't know what the new day will bring. This day was starting out no differently than every other day of the year, but a mere 30 minutes into it I cast the mold that would shape the Navigator's outlook on long-term marriages-especially to me! Then campsite we had required me to drop the tow dolly and Anita and I pushed it to the back of our site. I had backed the RV up to the dolly but since the sewer outlet was farther back in the site I would have to...

Aug 5, 2013 - Covered Bridges

From TT Horseshoe Lakes Clinton, IN Today was really a surprise. While we were eating breakfast I told Bill that I had no desire to ever see Indiana again. Then we got on our bikes and rode to the campground office to let them know what site we were on. We had just planned to explore the campground and lakes but I asked the nanager if there was anything nearby. She pulled out all these brochures on covered bridges. There happen to be 31 covered bridges in Parke County and there are about 6 routes you can take either by car or bike. However,...

Aug 4, 2013 - Indiana

From TT Horseshoe Lakes Clinton, IN From Horseshoe Lakes Thousand Trails Woke up this morning in Ohio to a small plane flying around overhead that kept circling and circling. We are used to jet noise at the beach but this was really annoying. While we were getting the MH ready to move, our neighbor said they were dusting the crops. He had noticed holes in the soybeans so I guess they were taking care of the beetles. He said the plane was barely above the trees when it flew over us so that explained how loud it was. Another interesting day...

Jul 24, 2011 - Sunday afternoon update

I decided to do an update even though we haven't done anything out of the ordinary this past week. In fact, all that we've been up to is trying to stay cool. From the weather reports on TV, it looks like the rest of you are doing the same thing! We've had heat of 90 degrees or more for the past week. UGH! We're still at the Thousand Trails in Clinton IN, amongst the corn and soy fields. Big problem here is the poor power we're plugged into. Only had 103 volts off and on over a couple of days (should be at least 112 for the safety of our...

Jul 17, 2011 - Western Indiana

On the 27th, we drove SSW to Horseshoe Lakes, a Thousand Trails preserve near Clinton, IN. The park was really busy over the July 4th weekend and, on the night of the 2nd, we had a real deluge. Heavy, heavy rain fell for a long time and I felt sorry for those people in tents. Joker was a quivering mass of black hair for days. If it wasn’t thundering, there were fireworks. He had no place to hide and would get under the dining table, trying to make himself really small. Our Fourth of July was a truly nostalgic type of holiday. For dinner, we...

Jul 16, 2011 - Clinton, IN via Elkhart

On Thursday, 7/07, we left Traverse City and Michigan headed for Elkhart IN. Never been through Elkhart before and were looking forward to a couple of factory tours plus a visit to the RV/Motorhome Hall of Fame and Museum. It was a nice ride down, mostly on US-31. I was a bit sad to be leaving MI as we'd had a great time there and the weather had been beautiful! Friday we had a tour of the Sunnybrook 5th wheel factory in Middletown IN, not far from Elkhart. Winnebago bought Sunnybrook last October (didn't know that), so now they're in the...

Sep 5, 2010 - It's Fall !!!!

Freezing my butt off in Indiana!! We have been in Clinton, IN for 2 days and it seems that they had 90 and 100 degree weather before we got here and decided they needed some relief. I am totally a Florida girl now and don't like it as much as they do. The leaves are beginning to change and fall. In another month it will be beautiful here. I do miss the change of seasons but hate being cold. At least we can make a run for the south when we can't take it anymore. This is a charming little community that is the home of Ernie Pyle, the WWII...
