Aug 5, 2009 - day 17

We had an enjoyable day today, having lunch with Uncle George Lutz--Chinese food. Tried my best to find the house we lived in on the river in Newburg, but it has changed so much, with the widening of old route 66 to 4 lanes, building of the Alcoa factory, etc. I found what I think may be the place, but I am sure my sister Phyllis will know better. There were not many photos of the house, that I know of, but one was of the three of us (my brother, myself, and sister) standing by what I think to the left of the house, with the outside toilet...

Aug 4, 2009 - day 16

Covered most of Boonville today, planning on Newburg and having lunch with George Lutz, my mother's brother, tomorrow. Amazing how many of the old buildings are still there, even if some of them are propped up! It is also interesting to see how many people in Boonville know the Forbeys and the Lutzes, in fact, I don't think there was one of them that didn't say, oh, yes I know them so well. We got the photo, and I labelled the fam. This picture was taken in front of Sister Pursley's house (in the photo she is behind my right shoulder), since at that time we were meeting in her house. It was in this house, (which is still alive and well and we will give you a photo of tomorrow night), where I was giving a talk out of the Consolation Magazine in the Theocratic Ministry School. It was the year, I believe 1943, when the t.m.s started, and at that time we memorized our talk. Halfway through my talk the power lines, weighed down...

Aug 2, 2009 - day 14

What a wonderful day! We went to the Kingdom Hall in Boonville, and after the meeting a Sister came up to us and tearfully said that my Dad had come to her home in 1946/7 in the witness work and invited her to the Kingdom Hall. She went to the Hall, and eventually became a baptized sister. Not long after that we moved to California, and so she did not again see my Dad. She had been waiting all these years to see if she would ever meet his family. She and her husband heard the name Padgett when we commented during the WT, and was hoping it...

Apr 28, 2008 - Boonville, IN - Scales Lake Park

April 28, 2008 Villa Ridge, MO to Boonville, IN Whew! It does not seem like 2 and ½ days since we’ve arrived here in the St. Louis area and now we are getting ready to depart for another RV spot down the road. While Day was cleaning up and getting things ready to go this morning I took the truck 4 miles down I-44 to exit 251 and fueled up on $3.99 diesel. I think its going to be the last time I see a price below $4. After I got back I dumped the tanks and then hooked up the trailer and by the time we were pulling out it was 1000. As we were...
