Oct 25, 2012 - Auburn, Indiana

What a ride! 320 miles in 7 hours. High winds offset by a beautiful day. Decided to travel at 55 mph due to gusty conditions. Fired up the iron jenny for leftovers at lunch. The Lord has blessed us with safety. Could it get any better? Judy and I discussed the invitation to join with the nuture group at Keswick. I knew that I would accept, but felt it necessary to be honest with each other. What a blessing to serve others in a group.

Jul 22, 2009 - It's a Duesy, alright!

Auburn is the "Home of the Classics" because there are at least 5 classic car, truck and train museums here! On this rainy day, I decided to visit the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum and I thought it was one of the best car museums I have seen so far! It is housed in what used to be the International Headquarters of the Auburn Automobile Company. His designers and builders and corporate officers worked here in this art deco building of the 1930s that is a National Historic Landmark. The showroom where car dealers came to see the new cars...

It was a beautiful day filled with sunshine and about 80 degrees, so we rode the Harley back up to Auburn, IN to finish seeing the museums. This time we went to the American Heritage building, which houses 6 different museums in one place. One covered the military, from the early 1900's through the Vietnam War. The huge building housed all sorts of military vehicles and information about each war - all very interesting. Another museum contained information about the history of television and yet another contained famous Indy race cars,...

We rode the Harley from Decatur to Auburn, IN today to visit several museums. There are 5 in Auburn that all look like they would be interesting. We started touring right after lunch and began with the Cort Duesenberg Museum. 4 hours later were still there. So much for trying to visit 5 in one day! This museum is an absolute must stop for anyone who is anywhere near this area of the country. It was nothing short of FABULOUS! According to information given about the museum, MSNBC News named it one of the “Top Ten Gearhead Destinations in the...

Where's Mama ???

May 10, 2008 - Auburn, Indiana

Auburn had a surprise for us. The Cord, Deusenberg, Auburn Auto Factory was located here and they've preserved the building which included the factory and dealer showroom and filled it with beautifully restored vehicles. What a treat to see so many of this historic cars. We also heard that once a year owners of these beauties from all over the country bring their cars back to Auburn for a parade and other special events. When the streets are filled with hundreds of them it must be a sight to see. We'll put it on our future schedule. Of...
