Jul 22, 2013 - Day before the flight

We decided to go to the Chicago area the day prior to the trip so that we would be able to get up by 3AM in order to get to O'Hare shortly after 4AM to make our 6AM flight. Kayleigh wanted to meet up with the boy that she had been talking to over texts (Kyle Hickey) and was wanting to attend a movie with him (The Conjuring). We drove to the Woodfield Mall and ate in the food court and looked around a little bit. During this time Kayleigh tried to contact Kyle. Of course, since we are packing today to go on the road tomorrow, snowstorm Elijah decides he's going to buzz on through just to annoy us. It seems like the US doesn’t make anything anymore. We’re staying the next 4 days in Schaumburg with friends. There wasn’t much to see on the Lincoln Highway in Indiana. For J&J folks, we passed DePuy in Warsaw, Indiana. Nice looking place. We stopped to see a monument to the “Ideal Section” of highway design, circa 1923. We...

Apr 29, 2009 - Family

We have spent several days with Helen's family. Wonderful time of connecting, catching up and sharing the excitement. This entry is being made at her neice Kelly's home in Schaumburg, Il. Starting off this adventure being filled with family time has really filled us with appreciation for the people in our lives. Makes us realize we may wander about, but our roots are deep in the soil of the Midwest. Today is the last time we will have the spaceousness of a stick home for a bit. We've spread out as much as we could, sat on different sofas,...
