Read and rate Travel Journal Entries for Mississippi Palisades State Park, Illinois, United States

Jun 2, 2008 - Day 2

Not much happened today. We camped at the Mississippi Palisades State Park in Illinois. It was a cute camping area, though pretty much every site was near a little stream so there were TONS of mosquitoes. We walked on a little trail then went up to the scenic areas to overlook the Mississippi River. It was right at sunset, so it was really pretty. There was a train that went by pretty much every hour, but luckily we couldn't hear it too much throughout the night.

Road Trip

Aug 22, 2006 - Near Davenport, Iowa

**** No Photos**** Tuesday, August 22, we drove to a campground on the Illinois boarder, just east of Davenport, Iowa. It was a Corps of Engineer's campgrounds. We have never stayed at a Corps campground before but after seeing this one we may have to try some more. This was really nice. Since I did not want this tradition to die, I subjected Chet to our tradition. As we traveled down Route 35, every time I had a glimpse of the Mississippi, I was spelling it out loud over and over. To...

Alaska Bound

Aug 19, 2006 - Ft. Dodge to Bellevue, Iowa

Had to go to the Wal-mart this morning to purchase a new coffeepot when we discovered last evening that I had mistakenly thrown the coffee basket out with the grounds yesterday morning. Bob claims he has never known anyone who did this but I don't believe that. I put the basket in the trash upside down while I went to get a paper towel because it was hot and then, promptly forgot what I was doing and did something else. Just goes to show I have too many cleanup chores. Anyway, that done, we headed to Dubuque, Iowa after debating whether we...
