Left Adventureland Campground in Des Moines (Altoona), Iowa this morning and crossed the Mississippi River into Illinois this afternoon. We are now camped at the Peru LaSalle KOA, which isn't too far from Mendota Illinois. Larry was born in Mendota and went to school there until he finished his freshman year of high school then his family moved to Spokane. He has not been back to Mendota since 1961 (47 years). May 13, 2008 - Heading up Route 39

Heading up Route 39 in Illinois we stopped at a truck stop for the night. This truck stop has a great place for breakfast. It is done up in license plates, signs and traffic lights, it also has a car for the buffet. Ten minutes up the road we came upon a large windmill farm.
