Jul 8, 2010 - Mission Success!
Captains's Log Old Earth Calender: July 5-7, 2010 The mission to Marengo was a success. I was able to conduct the necessary training in Rolling Meadows, IL while the rest of the crew enjoyed some R & R at Lehman's Lakeside RV Resort. This base is operational year round so we will most likely be returning in the future. A small lake with retal craft (canoe, paddle boats...) and swiming occupied the younger members of the crew. Dec 2, 2007 - Freezing rain sucks
I was interested in snow, but after the freezing rain, I am NOT so interested. Snow is cool, freezing rain and sleet sucks. Yesterday it started snowing about noon. I am still in the honeymoon period with snow where I like it. Dad needed some things in town so off we went driving in the snow. It was the first time we had seen snow plows and salt trucks at work, so still somewhat interesting. After we got into Rockford it changed to sleet, little balls of ice that were not falling down but being blown sideways. They hit you in the face and...Jump to full entry
Sep 7, 2006 - Travel to "Chicago"
Today we are driving to the Chicago suburbs to visit with Cheryl’s cousin, Pat and the family. This has been one of the major goals for the summer and we will be fairly busy with her. Cheryl visited her in 1996 when they lived within the city limits of Chicago near trains & busses and all the cemeteries where she saw her Polish & Italian ancestor’s graves. Cheryl’s godfather also lives in the area and we plan on visiting him. As we drove from the Green Bay area down to the Chicago suburbs, we passed mile after mile of farmland, green space...Jump to full entry
