Jul 16, 2014 - Bourbonnais, IL - Kankakee River SP

The 271 mile trip from Johnston City to Bourbonnaise, IL was almost all interstate so was a relatively easy drive, even with the ever present construction which didn't delay us much. Not a whole lot to take pictures of but we did include a few. Central Illinois is highly agricultural with lots of corn and soy beans (#2 in the nation for both). While going through Effingham, we did see the Cross at the Crossroads which is near the intersection of I-57 and I-70. We are staying at the Kankakee River State Park about 10 miles west of...

May 8, 2013 - Reconnecting With Friends

Another beautiful morning. High today expected to be 81 F. Not a cloud in the sky. Went for a walk and then decided we would try one off the Route 66 restaurants in the area. Drove to the Launching Pad in Wilmington. Unfortunately it was closed. No worries. Drove 10 minutes south on Rte 66 to the Polk A Dot Drive In. Excellent. Chili cheese dog for me and a burger for Marilyn. We shared a side of onion rings. And so it begins. Going to take a lot of walking this trip to keep off the pounds. Back to the campground for a nap and then a bike...

Everything tested with our computer and tablets and ready to go. This is about average amount of time. We always schedule the first day for the electronic stuff. Katie was excellent. Kept getting frustrated because system was acting up but held it together. She is headed to California to join her husband who is in the Marines and has been...

Jul 2, 2008 - Searching for a new home!

With the CAT Rally over it was time to head on down the road. Finding our next 'home site' became a bit of a challenge however. We have tickets to a couple of White Sox v A's games in Chicago as well as a game at Wrigley field with the Giants taking on the Cubs. Because of these games we wanted, obviously, to stay somewhere 'near' Chicago. From Chicago we are headed to the Monaco service center in Elkhart, Indiana to have some final warranty work done. Because of this we wanted to stay on the south side of Chicago. (Staying to the south...
