Today was just a driving day, so nothing too exciting. On our way, though, we did pass over 3 of the big area rivers….1st the Missouri River, then the Mississippi which got us from Missouri to Illinois, and then the Illinois River. We stopped for lunch outside Springfield, IL, which is known for Abraham Lincoln. We visited here on another trip and although it has some fun spots to visit, we didn’t stop this time. Sep 8, 2014 - Day with Mom

Date: September 8, 2014 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 60º High 82º Wildlife count: Year List: 348 Birds: An early trip to Costco filled some of the paper needs for the RV in preparation for our 3 months in the desert wilderness of Big Bend NP. We picked up Mom a little before noon and took her to lunch at Busy Corner and then made the Walmart run. Mom rested while we walked and we then headed for LeeAnn's for a wonderful dinner.

Date: September 7, 2014 Weather: sunny Temperature: start 56º High 74º Wildlife count: Year List: 348 Birds: House Sparrows, House Finches Mom decided that she wanted to go to worship here in Snyder Village, and it was delightful. The pianist was one of our students, Tyler, and he, along with a violinist and three vocalists provided excellent music. This is a wonderful ministry of the Willow Hill United Methodist Church. Going West 2014

Oct 7, 2013 - Day 2- 609 miles (1024 total)

Long day! We got going this morning at about 7:45 after a quick bite to eat. We started in Pennsylvania, went through West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois and finally ended up in East Peoria, IL. We crossed into the Central Time Zone at the border to Illinois, so gained an extra hour to drive- yay! The last hour was pretty rough, Hunter was DEFINITELY ready to get out- we heard 'Are we there yet?' for the first time all trip. Jul 15, 2010 - Heading Home

Wednesday, July 14,2010 It is our last day in Munising before we continue on our journey to the Copper Mines, so we approach it as a day of lasts . . . last boat trip, last visit to Sydney's for sweet potato fries (the best we ever had)and last Muldoon's Apple Pasty (better than mama's homemade apple pie if you can imagine, not that my children would know!), last night to enjoy Lake Superior as our backyard.
