May 28, 2012 - Memorial Day

CORRECTION TO PREVIOUS PHOTO: The gas prices are around $3.29 not $4.29 Sunday, May 27, 2012 – Lowell and I slept late and Doris went to church. We went to the Genseo Golf club where Doris is a member. Lowell and Doris played 18 holes of golf. At some more of those delicious green bean fries at the clubhouse plus lunch. We stopped at Doris’ son, Joe’s, house and finalized Memorial Day plans, then back to Doris’ for naps. Doris’ granddaughter and her friend came for supper and then we played Wizard. May 27, 2012 - At Doris's in East Moline

Thursday, May 24, 2012 – We toured the TPC (Tournament Players Club) at Deere Run Golf Club. Golf courses seem to be so beautiful and the grounds are always so well kept and this course was certainly that way. On the way to Doris’ house we toured the John Deere World Headquarters. The beautiful pond in front of the headquarters building has Trumpeter Swans and they are numbered. Friday, May 25, 2012 -- The first thing today I got a much needed pedicure. Aug 20, 2011 - Rock Island KOA , IL

We arrived safely at the Rock Island KOA. It was just a short four hour plus drive. My Vietnam friend Tom Freymann stopped by . We hadn't seen each other since July 1967 when him,Lonnie and I left Vietnam. Tomorrow he will take us around the Quad-City area on a sightseeing tour.

Aug 20, 2011 - East Moline, IL

These picture's are from our stop at Winterset, Iowa the birthplace of John Wayne on the way to the Rock Island KOA. The other picture were taken at the Rock Island Army Arsenal.I thought my friend Jim and Fred had a lot of weapons until we walked into their museum. Afterwards we went to Dinner with Tom and Abby, then came back to the campground to say our goodby's. The visit was short, but nice.

Jul 24, 2010 - East Moline, IL

Sat, 24 Jul: Back on the road again after 3½ weeks in Forest City. We planned to decamp early and all was progressing well until we tried to pull out of our campsite for the past two weeks. Days of rain took their toll on the Winnebago Rallygrounds, which became a quagmire of mud and slippery grass. Carpe made it about one coach length and then the wheels started spinning. When your rear axle is almost 20,000 pounds spinning wheels means deep ruts—very quickly! We stopped trying to move before we dug ourselves in deeper...
