Sep 15, 2013 - Visiting Old Friends

Well we did go to yard sales on Saturday and found a few great buys. I found an outside lounge chair like they sell at the RV places for about $80. I just gave $20 and it is in great shape. The "bucket" style chairs that you can find everywhere for outdoor sitting is hard for me to sit in and get out of so I have been thinking about buying one of the more expensive kind and now I don't need to. The Lord is good! Today we went to see Rosemary and her husband Jim, good friends of Larry. She is winning the fight against cancer, but it has been...

Spring Trips 2013

Sep 13, 2013 - Another Day in the Neighborhood

We had a very nice supper and visit with Larry's other brother Russ and his wife Barb. They met us a a new Chinese place that had a beautiful large fountain and small pool, just as you come in the resturant. Of course there were a lot of coins in the fountain. It was buffett with a more than enough selection. We all ate heartily and had a very nice visit. The had to go on to a ball game for one of their great grandchildren and we had to meet up with Willie and Janet at the Moose Club for Karaoke. This was interesting as I don't remember...

Sep 11, 2013 - Corn, Corn, & More Corn

We are enjoying our visit with Willie and the folks. My sister sent me an email and wanted pictures of the corn fields. These are for your sis. They are now in the process of cutting the stalks and stripping the ears and then shelling them, just about all in one operation. Lots of corn pollen in the air! We had to go to Menard's yesterday (a store like Home Depot) and I saw the shopping cart with the little yellow car attached. I could not resist a picture. If you have a caption in mind, please email me and tell me and I will repost and use...

Sep 8, 2013 - Finally to the End of this Road

Well we finally made it to our destination in Illinois. Larry's brother Willie turned 89 on the day we arrived so we took him and his girlfriend Janet out to eat at a local Mexican resturant. They put the big hat on him and sang to him. He seemed to really enjoy all the attention. He still lives alone and maintains his household. His health is overall good. Willie lives in the country so we parked in his yard. We are going to stay about a week and do some visiting. More next time.

Aug 19, 2012 - Stroll Down Memory Lane

We are here in pretty Coleta IL among the cornfields. The farms and houses are mostly very neat, landscaped nicely with flowers. This area is comprised of mostly small towns with Sterling and Rock Falls as the larger twin city towns with just a river separating them. The city of Dixon is about 20 miles down the road. Larry raised his family and worked here for about 40 years so he has a lot of friends and memories. We are parked in his brother's Willie side yard and they have been having a good visit with Willie and also his lady friend...
