Friday: We arrived at the Double J RV Park & Campground around 4:00 today. This is a beautiful RV park with all the amenities. It's a hot 81 degrees here today with a fair amount of humidity which we haven't had on this trip yet. At least it's not raining. Tomorrow we will be visiting the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library. Saturday: What a wonderful day we had today visiting the Abraham Lincoln Museum. It is divided up into two sections, his early days and his White House days. There are two short video presentations that cover each area....

Apr 23, 2018 - Monday Chatham ILL

We waited until the rain stopped before we drove to downtown Springfield. Drove there and I am still amazed that the town is the capital of Illinois and the lack of activity going on. This is Monday and very little traffic and only tourist around the museum, strange town. We visited the museum and still impressed with the displays they have. Something I learned this time was they claim 4 Presidents from Illinois but only one was born here, Ronald Regan.

We left campground about 8:30 a.m. and said goodbye to Jim who said he’d see us next year. He comes here from May to October in the same end spot. The rest of the year he is in California somewhere. As we left weather fine but it started raining heavy when we reached Illinois state line at noon. I took a picture of the Mississippi River as we crossed state line from Illinois to Iowa. The speed limit changed from 65 to 70 MPH.

Aug 6, 2010 - Another Morning in Chatham, IL

As usual Lady is our alarm clock. We are going to hang out today. Don had to go to the office at 9:00 am to register our problems with the repairman. As promised, he showed up at noon. He had the correct replacement elbow for the hot water heater. He also fixed the air conditioning dripping problem on the roof. Apparently, at the factory, they over -tightened everything and this is what caused both problems. He showed Don exactly what the problems were and explained why each happened. He charged less than $100 for the repairs. Our insurance...

Aug 5, 2010 - DoubleJ Campground Chatham, IL

Arrived at our campground about 1:30 pm. Double J grounds are beautiful and clean. There are trees at every site and everyone gets shade. We are next to the end site on a row by a soybean field. Don levels the camper quicker than I've ever seen. The ground is packed gravel and solid. When we check in, the mechanic's wife had surgery and is not here today. He will see us tomorrow at noon. The owner thinks our problems can be quickly fixed. The mechanic will have alot of catch-up tomorrow but he will get to us. This is a very impressive...
