Sep 16, 2012 - CH 46 and into Escapade

SUNDAY: We didn't get on the road super early but pulled out of the gate of the campground at 9:00. We stopped in Bushnell for gas and then headed down the road. Drove thru lots of corn fields and soybean fields as we traveled the red roads. We were on I-55 for a little while and stopped at a rest area and made sandwiches for lunch. Pulled into the COE park at Lake Carlyle around 2 and found a great site. (Of course, we didn't realize those nice shady trees were also dropping nuts so it was like being at Stronghold again.) Sat and talked...

Oct 11, 2010 - Carlyle Lake in Illinois

10-11-15-2010 Carlyle Lake in Illinois We traded our motor home this fall with plans to take many long trips. October 11 we met our friends, Judy and Jerry Dawes (and Pauly and Matilda the Bassets), at Carlyle Lake in Illinois to take our first trial camping trip in the new motor home. All went well and we had nice weather and a great visit. See attached pictures.

Apr 25, 2010 - Carlyle, Illinois

4/25 – 4/26 Two days traveling on US54 and US50 brought us 334 miles to Carlyle, Illinois with an overnight stop at a Wal-Mart parking lot in Union, Missouri. In Carlyle we stayed at Carlyle Lake (Dam West Campground) where we again had a beautiful lake view, but this time we shared it with our friends David and Dianne. David and Dianne were on the way to Ohio and luckily our paths crossed in Illinois. Along with them we checked out the Lake Carlyle Dam, a 19th century suspension bridge named General Dean and also the local grocery store....

Oct 9, 2008 - Carlyle Lake

Carlyle Lake is just such a heavenly place it can easily drain all the tension from a body. We walked around the campground a couple of times. We found and took pictures of the Great Blue Heron that has claimed this territory. We moved slowly today. Finally, in mid-afternoon, we decided to go into town and find a car wash to see if we could remove some of the insect carcasses and cross-ccountry dust from our van. This task accomplished, we picked up some fruit and vegetables then headed back to the campground. Since all sites at Carlyle...

Oct 13, 2007 - Our last stop before we reach home...

This is our last stop before getting home to Tell City, In. The Hickory Shores Resort is a nice place, but it advertised 50amp pull throughs, which they didn't have. This upset me, because I was doing the driving and knew I couldn't back in to this tiny spot. I explained that Don had just had a stroke and the Dr. restricted his driving, and the nice man took right over and put our rv right in the spot. The park was really nice, but a bit pricey for just 30amps. $30.00 a night. I was really nervous about pulling the rig for the last few...
