Oct 14, 2011 - Meet Me in St. Louis or at Least in Cahokia

We drove a very short 100 miles to St. Louis intending to stay at the Casino Queen RV Park. Imagine our surprise when we drove up to a sign saying the park was closed for the season! Their security was alert to the problem however, and they came equipped with a map to the closest RV park which was only about 5 miles away. We drove right over to the Cahokia RV Parque (yes, they really spell it that way) and checked in. The park is just fine, nothing fancy and lots of permanent residents, but the best thing is the Sawmill barbecue restaurant...

Two Hams in a Can

May 26, 2011 - Reached New Location After Scary Evening In Paducah

We are at a new location today…..moved about 175 miles north to Cahokia, IL which is just to the east of St. Louis, MO. In fact the “Arch” could be seen when we were only about 5 miles from the park as we drove along the Interstate…….an awesome sight! I will have to say that our last night in Paducah was one for the memories……..scary memories! As most know, this year has been horrible for tornadoes all throughout the mid-west and southern states. This year is setting all kinds of records; not ones you want to set, with the most deaths since...

Home Sweet RV - 2011

Sep 24, 2010 - Day Thirteen - Missouri & Illinois.

Hi Guys, Not a real lot to report to you today. We left behind Platte City and travelled through Missouri for around four or five hours crossing firstly the Missouri River and then just before our arrival in St Louis we crossed the mighty Mississippi River. Both rivers are huge, if you where to compare them to crossing the Yarra in Melbourne, it would be like four or five times wider and unlike the Yarra both these rivers are used to transport cargo and therefore have large barges and ships on them most of the time. 1 La première nuit de camping s'est très bien passée. J'ai eu un peu froid parce que je n'ai apporté que mon sac de couchage d'été. Les nuits sont vraiment plus fraîches que les jours... Aujourd'hui, nous nous dirigeons vers St-Louis, Missouri.
