Sep 5, 2018 - Things Didn’t Go as Planned
We crossed the Mississippi River into Illinois on I80 today. More rain came as we drove along I80. The plan was to exit onto US 6 to get away from the truck traffic on the interstate. We got about 50 miles into the state near Princeton, IL when trouble hit. Winnie stalled and I had to coast through a stop sign to find a safe place to pull off the road. Power steering and brakes do not work well when the engine isn’t running. Immediately I knew what the problem was, a blown ECM fuse as we had in Michigan a month or so ago. I pulled out the...Jump to full entry
So, we found out about this medium size, well run, charming out in the country, surrounded by corn and soy, in the middle of cool stuff to see campground from the All Stays App. And, it's a good thing we called for reservations weeks ago, as it is busy, especially on the weekends. As we walked to the falgpole, people were still enjoying their coffee and none of the families with children were rushing to the flagpole to hang out with Yogi. Oh ya, that's right...we had changed time xones the day before and hadn't updated our...Jump to full entry
May 11, 2008 - Whatever happened to Global Warming?
Ok, Oklahoma was windy but is was warm most of the time we were there working. Al Gore apparently hasn't been to Illinois recently. It is a cold and wet May here in northern Illinois. We finished up in Oklahoma and had a very enjoyable time on our travels through the 20th largest state. Illinois has been interesting so far as most of the campground owners haven't been around and the ones that are around are not happy campers due to the very cold and wet spring they are experiencing here in the "Land of Lincoln". We are working our way up to...Jump to full entry
