Jul 22, 2009 - Delco, Idaho

"When I purchased this place, it didn't look like this.", the owner stated, obviously proud of his accomplishments! The RV resort is called, Village of the Trees and that is accurate. Shade trees every where, mature with age and a resort cared for with pride and a work ethic not usually found in the market place. Every site is a winner, and the resort sports a pool, spa, convince store (with hot, out of the oven cinnamon rolls), propane, fuel and a dedication to making you feel at home. Even the rules, which every campground has are...

May 9, 2009 - Back In Idaho At Lake Walcott State Park

Well it only took us a month since leaving Mission, Texas, but we've made it across the Idaho border. We're staying at Lake Walcott State Park outside of Rupert, Idaho, not far from the Utah border. We've been in nearly all the Idaho State Park campgrounds, but never this one. Driving out of Rupert towards the lake would have given us second thoughts if we hadn't been following the state park signs. It felt like a road to nowhere - one of those moments where the navigation leads you astray. But once we arrived at the park that changed. It...

Apr 11, 2009 - Rupert, ID

Today we left Salt Lake City to head north towards Cheryl's brother's house in Idaho. After miles and miles of snow topped mountains, we stopped for lunch in a tiny farm community called Snowville on I-84 for lunch. The town was not named for the weather, but after a Mormon prophet. The town's only diner had some colorful characters, regular truckers & locals, a little red-necked and politically opinionated but fun. We enjoyed chatting with these characters - a little bit of Americana. We decided to stop for the night at the Elks Lodge in...

Jul 24, 2008 - Lake Wolcott State Recreation Area, Idaho

We stayed at the Double Dice RV Park in Elko, Nevada. It was a lot like you might imagine by the name. (See pictures.) Gravel lot (actually considerably cooler than asphalt) with electric outlets, water, and sewer. Very basic. But the laundry and other services were very clean. Our first impression of Elko was that it was a very depressed area. After spending some time there and reading about the surrounding areas it seemed a lot nicer. We used our time to buy groceries, wash clothes, and in general not hurry into anything. We are now at...

May 21, 2007 - Rupert Idaho

Rupert, Idaho Monday, Day Four We left Baker City, Oregon on a very cold and cloudy morning. The temperature was in the low 30's and I had forgotten that I had left the back bedroom window open. Needless to say Rhonda arose from bed and immediately turned the heat on. By 7:30 A.M. we were on the road trying to get closer to Roswell, New Mexico. Shortly after leaving it started snowing. May 21st, and it is snowing. We came this way to get into warm weather, not to find a snow storm. It didn't last long, but we did a couple more before we...
