Aug 7, 2011 - Fishing in the AM/Hot Springs in the PM
Today everyone went fishing on the Little Salmon River. I stayed back to catch up on the journal and other odds and ends. I am not a fisherman. Not sure how many fish they caught but I heard they did really well. Tom did well at catching some "Rainbow Trout". Around 6:00pm we all went to the local Hot Springs. It really is a pool filled with water from a Volcanic heated Hot Springs. The water felt beautiful.

Aug 4, 2011 - Hiked Heaven's Gate
Today we packed a light snack and took off to hike Heaven's Gate Trail. It is a trail to the top of a fire watch tower. Debbie found out how useful Walking Sticks are. Tom said I have told her for years, but she would not believe me. Well now she is a believer. When we finally got to the top of this mountain a storm was brewing. When I sat down to rest for a moment, I looked at Darin's (Claretta's grandson) hair and it was standing straight up from static electricity and Debbie said she heard a buzzing sound coming from a nearby metal sign....

Jul 1, 2011 - Escapees HOP in Riggins
We have had this event on our calendar since early March when we decided to explore in more detail our membership in the organization. It was billed as an ATV outing, and I was concerned that we were not owners of any kind of an off road vehicle. But, since we were going to be in Idaho during the time period and Riggins was on our list of places to explore we decided to go. With Trio's medical release to travel issued by Dr Breaux two days before departure, we took off on June 26th and drove west on SR-20 to pick up I-84 near Middleton,...

Apr 3, 2011 - Canyon Pines RV Resort
We will be leaving Riggins, Idaho soon. Our next stop will be in Missoula, Montana. We will be picking up our oldest grandson, Jared, from the airport. He will be spending about 10 days with us while he is on spring break from school. We can't wait to pick him up and let the fun begin. :-) When we first arrived in Riggins we had a family emergency and had to leave for Vegas. I didn't really have time to do an update about this campground. I am adding pictures today and especially want to say "thank you" to our wonderful host, Deborah and...

Apr 1, 2011 - Seven Devils Scenic Drive
Today we visited part of Hells Canyon Recreational Area from the Riggins, Idaho side. The Seven Devils are notable peaks in west central Idaho in the Hells Canyon Wilderness. They are above the east bank of the Snake River, which forms the Idaho-Oregon border. The mountains are part of the Rocky Mountains, and the tallest peaks are 7900 vertical feet above the adjacent Snake River, with few trees in between. Immediately southwest of Riggins, the Seven Devils are accessible from U.S. Highway 95 by a gravel road which climbs over 5000...

Mar 28, 2011 - Relaxing in Riggins
Jerry has been really sick with the same flu bug I had last week. We have been resting and relaxing, giving him time to recover. The campground we are staying in is the perfect place to relax. We have the awesome sound of the rapid flowing Salmon River outside our windows. We have been watching the birds and deer in the high mountains across the river from our campsite. We even saw a Dipper in the river. A new bird for my bird list, he has the most unusual habits. He lands on the rocks in the river and then dives under the water and swims...

Mar 25, 2011 - Back Home in Riggins!
Today we drove from Mountain Home, Idaho to Riggins, Idaho. We are very happy to be back home in our little RV. Living out of a suitcase for days and staying in Motels/Hotels will really make you appreciate the RV lifestyle. The drive home was an exciting one. We had snow coming down the size of golf balls most of the way. I have never seen so much snow. I am adding a few pictures of the snowy scenes on the way. More later from Riggins, Idaho.

Aug 8, 2009 - Great Ride to Riggins, Warm and Dry
262 DAY MILES & 627 TRIP MILES Really nice ride from Burns, Oregon to Riggins, Idaho with no rain and temperatures up to 80 degrees. No problems at all other then the Jet Boat won't be running tomorrow for our trip down the river. We all have been keeping an ear out for any banjo music, but so far none to be heard. Tomorrow it is down the Salmon River, and then Monday we head North, which is about as much as I know for now. Could be to Glacier National Park, or up the Idaho pan handle. We actually have no agenda for the trip other than to...
