Jul 21, 2012 - 2 Jog W to Teton NP, then to Rexburg, ID

If we ever figure out how to mark the map on the MTJ website, you might wonder at our abrupt westward jog. We had a date to visit Sandra and Jay Rush, their son Jason and his wife Alayne in Rexburg, ID on Mon. So, Sun. 15th July we drove 496 miles, all across Wyoming and into Grand Teton NP. This was an area we both loved from our earlier visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed our drive thru some of the most beautiful scenery in our country. Of course there were picture opps around every bend, and Ann took advantage of almost all of them!...

Jul 19, 2012 - Rexburg, Idaho

Another day that Bob and I took off in the convertible by ourselves. I knew there was an antique carousel in Rexburg and I wanted to find a hairdresser in real civilization. Desperately in need of a haircut. It was only 'down the road apiece' - 50 miles (but who's counting). Rexburg is much bigger city than any of the other places we've been recently. Off in the distance we could see a huge, white cathedral type building so we headed right for it. We go in a lot of churches. This one happened to The Church of the Latter Day Saints. Not...

Apr 30, 2012 - Rexburg, ID

Mon, 30 Apr: We decided to leave North Ogden and continue probing just how far north we can comfortably (and safely) travel. We left about 0930 and drove an astonishing eight miles to a Flying J in Willard, UT. We topped off our diesel tank as the prices in Idaho are 15¢ a gallon more than Utah and 18¢ a gallon more than Montana. We downloaded a newly released Pilot/Flying J application for our "not Mac" phones and it is pretty slick. We can check fuel prices at any nearby Pilot/Flying J truck stop or check prices in other...

Sep 25, 2011 - Yellowstone National Park

Hi Guys, Well today we visited Yellowstone National Park and boy did we save the best for last. From the minute you pass through the park gates, Yellowstone stuns you with it's pure simplistic natural beauty. Nothing spectactular, but everything just as it should be in such a beautiful place. We started at the west gate and drove through to Fisherman's Bridge and there where just Bison everywhere and not just one or two, there where herds of then just roaming beside the road and it was hard to remember that although they look docile, they...

Aug 12, 2011 - Rexburg, Idaho

We visited Yellowstone National Park again today, this time we were driving the RV and pulling the car. It was not as much fun as in the car. It was quite scary at times. Some of the roads are very curvy with no shoulders. I am so thankful that Jerry has all the driving experience he has. From my side of the front seat it looked like we were going to tumble over many times. I was glad to get out of the park this time. :-) We only saw a few elk and one stubborn buffalo. He held up the traffic for some time. He did not want to move out of...

Jun 24, 2010 - Drug Run

Today we made a drug run for John to Rexburg, Idaho, about 60 miles south of Island Park, where the nearest WalMart is located. It wasn't a Super WalMart so we were not able to replenish our grocery stock there, but there is an Albertson's next door, which worked out quite well. While we were waiting for the prescriptions to be refilled, we went out to Joe's Diner for breakfast, a local hangout which was excellent. Then we stopped just down the street at an LDS thrift store and got 19 puzzles, a light sweatshirt/jacket for John and two...

Pretty Damn Nice!

Apr 28, 2010 - Winter's return

. We departed Caldwell, Idaho at 7:30 AM this morning with the intention of making a 190-mile drive to Declo for a two-night visit before moving on east to Rexburg. Our planning involved holding in Rexburg until our summer destination in Island Park is free of snow and open for the season. Well, as it turned out, the weather forecast of last evening was fairly accurate, and we began to encounter a series of snow showers not far to the east of Boise. With temperatures slightly above freezing, nothing stuck to the highway however. I continued...

Sep 12, 2009 - Heading north towards Montana

Back on the road this morning and on north to Rexburg, Idaho and another great overnight spot I found in our “free campgrounds “ book. It is a Fish & Wildlife/County park called “Beaver Dick” park located 5 miles out of Rexburg right on the Henry's fork of the Snake River. They have a great day use area including picnic and boat ramps and then a large loop of campsites. Gorgeous campsites probably 75-80'long and 80-100' wide with a large fire ring, picnic table and almost all are separated by bushes or brush/trees for privacy. The Only...

year5-Here we go

Jul 2, 2008 - great sand dunes

Well today we took a side trip from Yellowstone to rexburg,Idaho. We really did not start out to see the great sand dunes we went because we needed tires for the airstream. That is right tires, the tires were so bad we could not take the airstream so that also meant we had to buy new trims too. Anyhow while we waited to get the rims and tires done we took the side trip to the sand dunes. They were pretty cool, big,big mound of sand and people were out there with dune buggies,ATVs and dirt bikes. The trip turned out to be pretty good. Of...

Road Trippin

Jun 10, 2008 - Hasta Luego Charlie's

We headed out today with the mystery noise solved and the engine air conditioner working. Way to go Charlie and Gilbert! Despite the insistence of two Freightliner Dealer Service Centers that the noise was not a chassis problem - IT WAS! It turned out to be a loose right shock absorber. Charlie and Gilbert tightened it up and the noise is now gone! Last night was Charlie and Vicki's thirty-first anniversary. The employees and customers gathered in the auto shop to celebrate with a pot luck dinner. It was the perfect setting because they...

Apr 18, 2008 - Rexburg

Well, we haven't had internet access for quite a while now so will fill you in... Preston was fantastic. The RV park was not really open but they let us stay because I had told her I was from Preston in the UK. The woman who owned it and her husband mark were lovely and had 18 children between them!!! Mormons...they love big families but they are such genuine, happy and serene people. We were the only ones there and they had hooked us up to water in the main lodge. The RV Park had 15 RV spots and 3 lodges for reunions, weddings etc. We were...
