Sep 19, 2006 - Drive to Idaho
Well today was a drive day and we knew it was going to be a long one. 331 miles is a long time when you are pulling a trailer. We didn't have the short curvy turns like yesterday, but the roads did have sharp turns and many climbs and descents. Then add rain to this mix and it makes for a very long tense day. It is amazing the change in scenery in one day. From beautiful Columbia river and wooded twisting roads to bleak almost desert like terrain. We finally saw a few mountains after entering Idaho. Will try to get some photo up as soon as possible, but it may be after we leave here before I can get to it. Beautiful place, much like South Lake Tahoe. Elevation is very...

I think I'm going to be happy with Passport America, wasn't sure to begin with but now am finding more and more good places and it works so good for us to spend less money for a night or two and get the cleaning and laundry done and re-fill and dump the tanks before taking off for "free camping". Fort Running Bear is a great place, the view is wonderful-mountains and a huge reservoir(Anderson reservoir) close enough to see. They are mainly a...

Jul 11, 2004 - Dirt Road Touring!
Day 31 -- Sunday, July 11 New Meadows, ID (Meadows RV Park) Miles today: 315 The plan for today was to drive to Hell's Canyon; but that's not how it worked out. We started out by the visiting the "Thousand Springs" area. This is a canyon along the Snake River where water gushes from the canyon walls. We expected to find a "scenic turnout" or "observation point". Instead, we discovered that you drive along the road catching glimpses where we could. En route back to the Interstate, we noticed a sign that read "Hagerman Fossil Beds National...
