91 – 9/16 Another 16 nights brought our total stay in Orofino, Idaho to 26 days, we really enjoyed the campground and area. It would have been perfect if not for the smoke. We would guess that about 40% of the visit there was smoke in the air, sometimes quite heavy. According to the campground host there were over 40 fires within a 150 mile radius. Some of our activities included: >Joan picked wild blackberries near town and some pears from a tree in the campground. This resulted in some great berry cobbler and pear bread. >we had our...

8/22 – 8/31 Drove 148 miles (US2, I-90, US195, US95, US12) to Pink House BLM Recreation Site in Orofino, Idaho. We have a beautiful site along the Clearwater River with full hookups (not bad for $9/night). We are enjoying having electricity and not conserving water. Most of our time is spent relaxing and enjoying the good weather. Joan is busy sewing quilts while Ken reads. Took a drive to check out the Dworshak Dam which is only about eight miles from our campsite. The dam is the third tallest (717 feet) dam in the US. The dam is called a...

Made it out of Montana finally. Steve said we spent so long in Montana, since the first of August, we were going to have to start paying taxes. After waiting half the day to get the windshield wipers fixed, we only made it to Orofino, ID to spend the night. We went down State Highway 12, which is part of the Lewis & Clark Trail and is very picturesque. The campground we're staying at is on the Clearwater River, which we followed almost the entire 150 miles to get here. It flows all the way to the Columbia River. That's about the only good...

On Friday we left Twisp, Washington on our journey to Orofino, Idaho. Why Orofino? you may ask. Kermit has a friend from Houma, that he started 1st grade with and went all the way thru LSU. And they have reconnected after all these years. Turn out Orofino has a great RV park located on the Clearwater River and every site is on the river. It was a little unnerving guiding Kermit into this site b/c our backend is literally at the edge of the river. The river is high for this time of the year and the thought of flooding was on my mind at...

Drove the winding beautiful Rt 12 from Missoula to Orofino, Id. Cute small town. Spent the night at Clearwater Rv Park, which is right on the banks of the Clearwater River. The owner is trying to make this a 1st class park. He has full hookups, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a concrete patio with picnic table. The only problem it is almost on top of the railroad tracks. Although this track isn't used that much, they are storing lumber cars there. We didn't hear a train during the evening or the next morning. 1 night at Passport America rate($13).
