Aug 20, 2012 - Boise Bound

Today we left for the Boise area (Nampa & Meridian), a short 3 hour drive over more lava flows of southern Idaho. We set up camp and went for lunch. Our RV park had a lot of workers with families, some travelers like us and some permanents. There was an amusing trailer that had an A/C unit strapped on top. I don’t think they were going to be traveling much. We headed over to visit our friends, the Archuletta’s (formerly of Buena Park, CA) for an evening of laughs. We originally met them at Silent Valley, friends of friends, and love hanging...

Jun 14, 2012 - "Nampa Nights"

Tonight is our last night at Gowen Field RV Park and as good fortune would have it, we were able to go back to Nampa to hear our friend Steve perform with the band, High Street he’s been a member with for several years at “Nampa Nights” in the middle of down town! But before leaving, we did manage to get in another evening with Linda and Steve in another suburb of Boise, called Meridian at the Basque restaurant, Epi’s. It lived up to its reputation and more. What a delightful evening we spent together and enjoying the wonderful flavors of...

Jun 3, 2012 - Another Fun Birthday Celebration

Another wonderful weekend in the Boise area! We started off on Saturday having Scott and Rick over to dinner here at the RV. Like many folks who have never seen the inside of these things, they were pretty amazed at the creature comforts and how spacious it is compared to what they thought it would be like! We had a great time and visit and meal – and later this week we’ll be seeing them again to help Rick celebrate his birthday at a local restaurant! Today we drove over to Linda and Steve’s to go with them, the kids and grandkids out to...

May 28, 2012 - Such a Memorable Memorial Day!

Based on the weather not cooperating with our original plans to visit Sun Valley with Linda and Steve over the holiday weekend, we managed to get in some great quality evenings with them on Friday and Sunday! And we also got together with Scott and Rick and met Scott's sister Terry and her boyfriend Richard for a delightful breakfast on Saturday and then were invited to Terry’s home for a barbecue on Monday - see why this is a Memorable Memorial Day? First Spudology 101 second to last question: The world's largest potato weighed? a) 4...

Oct 13, 2011 - Nampa, ID

Arrived at sister Gwynne's today and figured out my trailer was too long to park in front of their house. Nice park down the street some, so I will stay there. Will be here for a couple of days and then go on over to Burns, OR for a visit with cousin's Glen and Glenda and daughter Jen. Then it is home to my sweetie Kathy. She has been working hard while I have been out traveling, so I am anxious to hear all about it.

Sep 24, 2011 - RV "check engine light"

We left Bend, OR today. Just outside of Burns, OR the RV started to act "funny". It almost totally lost power climbing hills and eventually the Check Engine Light came on. We were in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone service and the two little towns we went through on the road had no gas station. So we just kept driving for 114 miles. When we got to Nampa, ID we called the Ford dealer in Meridian and they gave us an appt for Monday morning. So we found a campground in Nampa. ...

May 17, 2011 - The Long Road Home

We spent our last night on the road in rest area just north of Snowville, Utah, over the Idaho border. Pleasant weather and a chance to catch up on our blog. We'll be home around Noon thirty and we're all anxious to get there. Harley is already dreaming about running in his big back yard; Jo is dreaming about getting into her big shower; and Dick, well he's dreaming about cleaning the motorhome - NOT - how about getting the Cobra out again! We hope you've enjoyed the stories and the pictures over the last seven months, and we'll have...

Oct 17, 2010 - On The Road Again

Well, here we are On The Road Again .... Dick, Jo, Harley and Willie Nelson! Our ultimate goal is to end up in Riverview, Florida by November 15th, where we plan on spending the winter. This is our first time "snowbirding" and boy did it take a lot of pre-planning! We have been packing and repacking the motorhome for a couple of weeks; nothing like planning for a month long adventure. Dick never knew I had so many clothes - or so many beads - ha! And then there was the fiasco making sure that both the Saturn and Cobra would fit in the 20'...

Oct 9, 2010 - Nampa, ID We have arrived!

Hi All, We arrived safely in Nampa, ID at 5:45. We forgot that the time changed to Mountain Standard time, so we thought it was 4:45 and had planned to go to Mass tonight. Of course, that didn't happen, so it will be up early tomorrow so we can go to 8 a.m. Mass. Hopefully we will have the rig ready to hook up when we return from church and be on the road by 9:30. Probably be more like 10. Plan to stay the night tomorrow in Provo, UT. We are both really tired so I am going to sign off and hit the bed. Don't forget to remember us in your...

Sep 27, 2010 - On the move again

We are finally on the move again and as much as we like visiting family and friends, we miss exploring and traveling just feels more natural to us. My dad's favorite (only) sister, Barbara Ford, lives here and we try to stop by when we are in the area. Cousin Sharon McClure picked us up and carried us to where Auntie Barbara lives. This was our first visit to her new appartment and we were impressed. Auntie is moving a little slow since she fell and broke her tail bone. I should be moving so good when I'm 90 years old.

May 5, 2010 - Headed for the Oregon Coast

What a beautiful day to begin our trip - the sun is shining, weather is cool, and we're headed off into the sunshine of the Oregon Coast - NOT! We met our friends, Ted and Julie Thornton, at the Franklin Exit in Nampa and headed down the road around 9:30 AM. Whizzing right along and enjoying the sights along the way, our first stop was to be Baker City, Oregon. Well, we didn't quite make it that far. About an hour from home and 20 miles outside of Ontario, Oregon, as we headed up a hill the engine on our rig quit. From 60 to 0 in 10 seconds...
