Mar 2, 2013 - Meet "Prissy"!!!
Greetings, It's certainly been a while since last doing a post and this time it isn't because we are traveling anywhere (for now), but to introduce our new RV - it's a Coachman Prism with a Mercedes engine, diesel, 2011, 25' long, only had 16,300 miles (which many of you know by diesel standards it's barely broken in), gets 16-18 mpg, the price was right, AND is perfect for us! We both miss RVing, just not the full-timing aspect of it as many of you already know! So when Jerry suggested driving by Camping World one day a week or so ago...

Jan 15, 2013 - Home Safe and Sound!
Aloha, What a great flight home! Reluctantly, we left the Marriott after the nicest breakfast poolside. None of us wanted to be out in the sun though because we were no longer wearing shorts and tank tops, but instead had switched to Idaho Winter Clothing for the journey home! We arrived at the airport, got checked in, did some last minute "touristy" shopping and then boarded! Got the usual, wonderful First Class service from some great flight attendants and some wonderful meals as well. We arrived in Portland a few minutes early only to...

Dec 21, 2012 - Christmas Party and Beyond . . . .
Greetings - as the year draws to a close, we wanted to get this last post off showing our first Christmas party and quasi-house warming we hosted on 20 Dec. What a fun time we had - the group was small and intimate and we were delighted to find out how much the house opened up for entertaining. Jerry's wishes for a White Christmas was answered when we were driving back from our friends home that evening and there was a small accummulation of snow. We had a few more flurries the following day and enough to really provide a nice winter...

Dec 19, 2012 - House Getting More Finished
Hi Again - as promised, trying to get caught up with pics of the house as the rooms get finished and somewhat in order. Still have our guest room to do, but will wait till we return from Hawaii to even begin to think more about what we want to do. We have some ideas, but need to start looking around to see what's available - so more on that in 2013! Today's post is to show more of our finished rooms - our room, the tv room and the laundry room as well as a few more features as we get ready for our first Christmas Party, quasi house-warming...

Dec 14, 2012 - Getting Ready For Our First Idaho Christmas
Greetings to All . . . Am very behind in getting some updates about our new home and getting settled in and established. So am attempting to get some what caught up these next few days. We've been busy! We put up our first Christmas tree in probably a decade. As many of you know, we always traveled over the holidays to maximize leave time, or were on the road, so only had decorations in lieu of a tree to celebrate the season. This year we decided it would be fun to put up a tree and become reacquainted with all those ornaments that have...

Dec 1, 2012 - A Few More Updates and Changes
Thought I'd send out a few of the changes being made around the house and will continue to take more pictures to share as the rooms are getting more finalized. It hasn't been all work as you can see - Jerry's attended a Boise State football game with two friends (first time they lost at home too) and had a lot of fun despite the cold. It was a late night game due to it being televised, but they still had a lot of fun. And he dressed for the Iron Bowl game Thanksgiving weekend and thoroughly enjoyed watching Alabama beat Auburn (sorry...

Nov 25, 2012 - Our New Website and Home
Hi Everyone - you are receiving this new journal because you've either been in our home in Germany, New Jersey, Texas, or have expressed an interest in seeing our new house as it develops into a home and as we are getting established. We didn't want to use the trip journal portion of the website (even though we do realize this is still through the same medium) because we have so many people following our travels that either we don't know or have never met. We honestly just didn't want our home to be opened up to folks following trip...

Nov 23, 2012 - Happy Thanksgiving!
Greetings Everyone and Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Sorry for the delay, but lots has happened since our last post as you undoubtedly know from following our adventures. We are now happily settling into our home here in Meridian, Idaho and enjoyed our first holiday in our new home! This is an interim post and we are well aware this is a trip journal and about folks' travels and adventures and we do plan on returning to RVing in the spring - but due to the amount of e-mails and messages we've received from many of you, thought...

Oct 7, 2012 - A Different Direction
As promised in a previous post, we’d share the reason we returned to the Boise area late last month. We decided to take a “Different Direction” in our lives and travels. If you’ve been following our post for a while, it was apparent to many that we really fell in love with this area! We drove back to Idaho one weekend while still in Oregon and started the wheels in motion and decided to buy what is called a patio home in Meridian (a Boise suburb). For those of you, like me, who never heard this phrase before, it is a one-level home that...

Jul 25, 2012 - Heading towards Boise
We woke to 48 degrees this morning, a little chilly, perhaps it's time to leave the Idaho desert and head west towards Boise, but before we do we have to try out the local diner for breakfast at Pickle's Place. That breakfast should last us until dinner time. It was only up to 69 degrees when we hit the road at 10:00. We traveled through lots more lava landscape, until we finally left the desert behind and began seeing cattle and horses. Back home we see dead deer by the side of the road here we see dead cows, very sad! We crossed over the...

May 23, 2012 - To Meridian, ID
We are on our way to Oregon. On Route 26, we pass Craters of the Moon National Monument again. It is still cool and windy. We only stop at the turnouts. We get a greater appreciation of how large the monument is. We learn that we are following the Goodale Cutoff of the Oregon Trail. We left the Oregon Trail when we turned north to Casper. The trail dipped south into Utah and then north again to Pocatello, ID. From Pocatello, some pioneers veered off the main trail. They headed north, circling around Craters of the Moon. Having explored...

May 31, 2011 - Boise and Meridian, Idaho
Stayed at a very nice KOA in Meridian, Idaho for 5 nights. Had a lot of rain, but still got out to see the sights in Boise and surrounding area. Meridian is only about 5 miles outside of Boise. Our first evening we went to a restaurant in old town Meridian, "Rick's Press Room," which had been featured on the Food Network. We both had rib eye steaks, which were very good, but we both agreed Texas Roadhouse's steaks are better. After dinner we went to the movies and saw the new Pirates movie. Big disappointment - we were both bored and it was...
