Aug 13, 2019 - McCammon ID
First of 4 one-night stands. Getting fuel on the way we came very close to a tree which just reinforced our decision to stop RVing. Tonight we stayed at McCammon RV Park in McCammon ID, less than desirable. Site needed some serious tree trimming and still no TV.Jump to full entry
Jul 21, 2012 - Yay, McCammon!
July 21, 2012 So, McCammon turns out to be a pleasant campground with everything we needed. Beautiful scenery, showers, a laundromat, and marmots. Had a two hour walk through tiny town out into the country. Little traffic and 2/3 of that waved. Then we had brunch at the neat local cafe. Great food, with homemade bread and pies. We unhooked the Casita and scouted a nice bike ride for in the morning and a nice walk for the evening. Time for laundry and instead of a hot afternoon, we had a cloud overhead with enough thunder to be sure it...Jump to full entry
Jul 20, 2012 - Fossils, Unlimited
July 20, 2012 Leaving Flaming Gorge was hard, since it was so beautiful, but we headed north to Fossil Butte National Monument. Boy, a lot of the west is empty desert. Not much to see outside at Fossil Butte, nondescript desert hills made of horizontal cream colored rock layers. Even the quarries look like just bare rock. But the awesome museum makes up for it!! It starts at the entrance to the park with an impressive proportional timeline showing geologic history. And just look at the fossils you can almost touch!...Jump to full entry
Jun 29, 2011 - McCammon, ID - McCammon RV Park and Campgrounds
Good roads and light traffic made for a leisurely 69 mile drive from North Logan, UT to McCammon, ID today. It was through farm country but we are not sure what they were growing. Most of what we have seen looks like hay or some kind of feed but we did see one corn field today. One of the interesting points on the way was the little settlement of Franklin, ID. In 1860, believing he was still in the Utah Territory, Brigham Young brought a group of settlers here to settle in one of the finest valleys he had seen. Twelve years later an...Jump to full entry
Jul 7, 2008 - Leg 4, Arrived in McCammon, ID.
We arrived in McCammon around 1PM, temp 87, wind 6 knts, clear. Spot was fine for a one night stand. The girls had fun watching the horses in the nearby pasture. Abbie sat and watched them for almost 20 minutes. Lucy just thought it was a big dog. The spot had a certain amount of charm, it was located behind a Chevron station after all. Next stop, Red Rock Mountain RV Park in Island Park, ID. Later, MLJump to full entry
Sep 15, 2007 - McCammon, ID - Drive through Idaho
Our drive today was short and uneventful.......a point A to point B kind of drive. We decided to stop a little south of Pocatello; this town always reminds me of my working days. We had a memory chip supplier here who was always in some sort of trouble and needed hand-holding. So, off we went at the McCammon exit. Whoah, bad move; we must have picked the worst exit in the entire state of Idaho. The campground was really ancient with narrow rough sites and Joe didn't think he had a prayer of getting a satellite signal through all the trees....Jump to full entry
Jul 13, 2007 - Yellowstone to Idaho
We left West Yellowstone this morning and headed down to Rexburg ID to get some perscriptions refilled. They filled all but one and said it would be Monday before they had anymore. Did not want to stay in Rexburg, so we went on down to Idaho Falls to get the final one filled. We stopped for the night in McCammon ID. Little RV Park behind a Chevron station, but it turned out to be a night place. It was hot a blue blazes today, so we stopped about 3pm.Jump to full entry
