THE OREGON TRAIL/MASSACRE ROCKS This morning we drove out to a nearby highway rest area with a small interpretative display and a path to a hilly area on the opposite side of the interstate that supposedly has remnants of the Oregon Trail, including wagon wheel ruts left by the pioneers. It was an unusual hike that passed thru tunnels under the two sides of the interstate highway. But what a disappointment! We searched high and low, but could not spot a pair of wagon tracks anywhere. Jun 28, 2011 - Massacre Rocks State Park

MASSACRE ROCKS STATE PARK We were up early this morning, had a hearty breakfast at a café in Glenns Ferry. Then we went back to the campground, made a few final preparations, hooked up and were on our way. Since we were taking the same route as before, it was like a rerun of the same unremarkable scenery — dry, arid land with lots of sagebrush interspersed with farm land and dairies. Sep 16, 2008 - World's Largest Potato Chip/Register Rock

We left the tranquility of the KOA in Arco and headed toward American Falls, ID. In her research, T had gleaned that there existed wagon ruts from the Oregon and California Trail westward migration period. She also found out about “Register Rock”, a 20 foot high rock that emigrants who camped along the Snake River signed.
