Sep 2, 2012 - Riley Creek Rec Area

We are visiting the Riley Creek Recreational area today. When were first decided to visit the Idaho area, we almost booked our site here for a few weeks, but we wanted to be closer to the airport in Spokane to pick up Jared. The campground does not have full hook-ups or cable either. :-) We are very spoiled when it comes to all the hook ups and at least a clear view of the sky to bring in our Direct TV. :-) Once we arrived and saw this incredible area, we wished we had at least stayed here for a week. We traveled along with the Kootenai River, through the Kootenai Nat’l Forest, enjoying the rugged, peaceful landscape. We stopped once and were rewarded with a strong scent of pine – wow! We passed through Kalispell and Libby before crossing the ID border and another time change to Pacific Time Zone – gaining another hour. We found an amazing campground at Pend Oreille (Pond-o–RAy) Lake, surrounded by pines and a sliver of a view of the lake. Bonnie enjoyed the off-leash Doggie Island where she wore herself plum out “anteloping” through the...

We have kinda divided forces on the journal, Nancy is going to work on the picture editing and I will handle the written bull. Here are the highlights of our stay on Lake Pend Oreille. We stayed at our first Corps of...

I guess this is the type of day that sometimes makes fulltime RVer's wonder why they are fulltiming! As we started to raise the front of the trailer so we could back the truck under it and hook up, we noticed that the "landing gears" (the front supports on a 5th wheel) were not extending. We tried to retract them and that didn't work either! We then called the service manager at the dealership where we purchased the trailer. He said it sounded like either the gears were messed up or a shear pin had broken. In either case, the only way we...
