Apr 8, 2018 - Fort Hall, Idaho

We started our day a bit later today as we knew we were not going too far. As we travelled through Utah we saw green fields, budding trees, and flowering trees. There was some wind most of the day but it was gusting by the time we called it a day. Now we are hunkered down in a nice warm rv at the Fort Hall Casino in Idaho. Fortunately someone had cancelled so we got a space. Most of the people we have met here are wondering why we are all heading home! Thanks to everyone who has sent text messages and emails warning us of the weather! Mel...

Sep 15, 2014 - Fort Hall, ID

We traveled to Ft. Hall, ID just outside Pocatello, ID as we had a Tuesday RV appointment at our dealer Park-A-Way RV in Chubbock, ID. Time to get the wheel bearings checked and slides adjusted. We stay at Buffalo Meadows RV Park at the Ft. Hall Shoshone-Bannock Casino. Park is ok, but close sites, but the casino is generally kind to us. With the exception of all the smoke inside the casino, we have a good time here and the food isn't too bad. Spent a little time with our friend and dealer, Ryan Smith, but this is budget time for him and he...

Mar 31, 2013 - Fort Hall, ID

Happy Easter! This Easter Sunday found us traveling to Fort Hall, ID where we stayed at the Shoshone-Bannock Casino RV Park for $20/night. (Do you see a pattern here?) Actually we have stayed here before as it is about 8 miles from Park-A-Way RV where we bought our 5th wheel. We needed to get a few things fixed on our rig so this is the best spot for us to stay. Had lunch with Ryan Smith, owner, and got our rigs checked out. They had to order parts for both us and the Andersons so we stayed for a couple of days. Hope to be good as new when...

Jun 14, 2010 - Golf Day!

Today dawned sunny and warm...what does that say to us??? Golf Day. Checking out the internet, we found a great course in Pocatello and headed out to see if we could get on. The afternoon was wide open and we really enjoyed this course. Me especially, because as Ron hit his first shot on the 465 yard par 4, I had to smirk, because the same hole for me was a 366 yard par 5! There is justice after all. Neither of us played real well. I was 20 over but it was a par 76, so I shot a 96 and Ron was 30 over and shot a 102. Wide generous fairways...

Jun 13, 2010 - Driving thru Utah

What a beautiful drive we had today. Left our Lutherwood Camp...now one of the nicest we actually saw... around 8:30 this morning and headed directly north. Every bit of the drive was stunning. The colors, the grasses...We drove thru the red cliffs and valley's thru Panquitch, where the ruggedness gave way to mountains that were deep green, into the rock candy mtn area, where we saw incredible colors of yellow and carmel. Then it was on thru twisting roads with the Sevier River running strong from the recent rains. About the time, I thought...

Apr 11, 2010 - Moab to Fort Hall

On Sunday April 11 we started our trip north to Alberta. The first leg of our journey took us northwest from Moab over Soldier Pass just southeast of Salt Lake City, then onto the I-15 and north through Salt Lake City. Sunday morning traffic was light, the roads were good and the winds from the South were favourable. We had our best mileage per gallon of fuel yet at 13.9 mpg (Imperial Gallons). We passed through Utah and into Idaho stopping for the night at an RV Park on the Fort Hall Reservation. Our total miles travelled for the day was...

Jun 26, 2009 - Craters of the Moon

Ever since we first started traveling in the early 1970’s, we’ve used maps and tour books from AAA to help plan th itinerary. Although the internet provides a great deal more information, AAA still lays a good foundation. Idaho is mostly mountainous, but there is a flat area that sweeps through the bottom part of the state like a smile. Above the smile, far from anywhere any previous routes have taken us, lies Craters of the Moon National Monument. In the AAA tour books, sights that are especially worth seeing are marked with a diamond...
