May 30, 2011 - Cataldo Idaho
Today we wanted to have a shorter bike ride and avoid the afternoon storms that were forecasted. We drove to Harrison on Coeur d’Alene lake and it was cold with low clouds but we told ourselves it was better than rain. The trail follows the lake and because of the extra water there were lots of lagoons with lots of flying bugs (mmm, tastes great!). We headed to the bridge over the lake and then back to Harrison. Total was about 15 miles. Had a great lunch in Harrison at One Shot Charlies with the sun starting to make an appearance. We then...

May 29, 2011 - Cataldo Idaho - Bike riding
Got up and headed out to the bike trail. We started out talking about a 15-20 mile trip, but kept pushing further and further. Being an old RR grade, we were the only thing that was not under water. Many times you felt that you were crossing a large lake in the middle. If it weren’t for the field fencing, gates, and real estate signs poking up out of the water, you would not think this was just flooded pasture land. On the way back, we got into a rain shower, out ran it after getting a bit wet, and for the last couple of miles had on and...

May 28, 2011 - Bend to Cataldo Idaho
Got up to a dusting of snow, but lots of frozen water on the stairs, car, and slides. Made our way to Bend for gas, but Safeway had not updated their store locations to reflect the fact that 97 does not go by their stores anymore, so we spent almost 30 minutes messing around before we decided to just head to Redmond and get gas. Most of the trip is pretty, long, and sometimes boring. High desert, light forests, river shed, and farms. We hit Idaho by 5pm and arrived at our site by 6pm. The RV park in Cataldo is pretty, but not much of a...

Our plan was to park overnight in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Post Falls, Idaho, so that we could get our shopping done. But the Wal-Mart lot was so packed that there was no place for us to park. We were mulling over our options as we drove east on I-90, when we spotted some RV's on the side of the road. Fortunately, we had time to slow down and get off at the next exit. We found our way to the Kahnderosa RV Park and were greeted by the owner and his young son. Since there were no open sites with hook-ups, the owner offered us a place to...

Aug 6, 2006 - Old Mission of the Sacred Heart
This morning I got up a little earlier than usual so I would have time to find a church to attend. I looked first in St. Regis, of course, but didn't find one. Then I drove on and stopped at several villages but still didn't find one until I got to Osburn, Idaho, where I attended the Community Baptist Church. They had some guest singers who have roots in the church and also a guest speaker. Their pastor is on vacation. After church they invited me to have refreshments with them in their fellowship hall. In the afternoon I stopped at...
