Sep 12, 2017 - Checking out the sights

Pete & I took a couple of drives around the area & took a walk along the North Fork of the Payette River (which runs along the Rv Park). There wasn't much fishing going on along the river....we didn't see anyone catch any while we watched from the river bank. We drove out to the town of Roseberry, it is one of Idaho's ghost towns. Roseberry is an old Finnish settlement in Donnelley, Idaho. The Finns settled there in the late 19th century, they fled the oppressive Russian empire which occupied Finland at the time. Spent some time in the town...

Sep 9, 2017 - In Search of Clear Skies

On Friday we left Orofino, Idaho in search of clearer skies & fresh air. Our destination..Cascade, Idaho. Our trip here was a smokey one, but as we got closer to Cascade the air quality improved as did the views, the smoke started to alleviate. Our trip took us up Hwy 12, Hwy 13 & Hwy 95 & Hwy 55 into Cascade. As we drove we spoke about how much more beautiful the drive would have been if it wasn't for all the smoke, oh well we still enjoyed the drive. We are staying at Waters Edge RV Resort in Cascade (it is situated right on the shore of...

Jun 21, 2010 - Cascade

We have been having a great time here in Cascade. The campground is right on the Payette River and our three sites are facing the river. We caught some fish yesterday and plan on doing more today. Penny, Carole, Adrienne, Carl and Aja walked up to the state park and lake and said it is beautiful. Fishing is suppose to be good there, so I am sure Rich, Robert and I will be there. Got some rain yesterday afternoon and evening which was the first since we left the south. It is 40 degrees this morning and the sun is shining. For our friends...

Jul 1, 2009 - A Second Week at Lake Cascade

Our original plan after returning from Bear was to stay one more night at the Lake Cascade campground, then head on up to Redfish Lake to await our “call“. But after talking to our supervisor up there I was informed that the refurbishing of our campground loop would not be completed by the 4th of July. Not wanting to just “sit” up there, we decided to stay another week at our private spot at Lake Cascade. By now our wet weather had turned from rain to it’s usual sunny pattern and we began pulling out more and more equipment from our...

Jun 17, 2009 - Our Own Private Idaho

We left off sitting at the Les Schwab Tire dealership while waiting for the wheels on the 5th wheel to be repacked. While there it POURED down rain and we felt sorry for the guy who was working on it while parked along the uncovered shop. At one point I told Barb "we're going to just sit at Wal-Mart until this stops" once we got the rig back, but by the time he finished, the cloud burst had stopped and off we went. I'm always a little leery of having anything done to the rig and then taking off into the mountains on a narrow two lane road...

Aug 9, 2006 - Cascade, Idaho

This morning I slept later than I had intended -- but, well, I'm on vacation, right? It was a little after noon by the time I got to the Cascade Flea Market to see friends, Loretta and Esther. They have a large booth chock full of pretty wall art, antique and vintage jewelry and other items. I bought a cuff bracelet with a spring hinge and navy stones, a pair of small gold hoop earrings with one each black and white pearl dangles and a gold chain with navy setting. They look very nice. Loretta and Esther treated me like royalty. Loretta...
