May 11, 2012 - StoneRidge Golf & Recreation Resort

We are at the end of our free week at this beautiful resort. StoneRidge does have a lot to offer in amenities except cell phone service. Wi-fi is $25 per week or $50 a month. A cell tower is supposed to be going by the end of this summer. I mentioned in an earlier blog that we received a free week when we attended the FMCA rally in Indio, CA a couple of months ago. JC routed us in such a way that we were able to take advantage of it. The sales tour was very low key and consisted mostly of a short tour of the property and answering our...

May 8, 2012 - A little bit of Northern Idaho

We took the bike out today for the first time in quite a while. It was a balmy 74 and bright sunshine. We travelled through numerous little, and I mean little, towns. Saw most of Lake Coeur d'Alene and then headed north to Old Town, ID and then across the street to Newport, WA. This really is a beautiful part of Idaho. Lots of farm land, lakes, sugar pines and douglas fir trees....green, green, green.

May 7, 2012 - Blanchard, ID

We are currently in a little town called Blanchard in Idaho. This is about 30 miles north of Coeur d'Alene. We've been here since Saturday. We are staying at a big golf & recreation area called Stoneridge. These folks had a booth at the FMCA Rally we attended in Indio, CA a couple of months ago and were giving away a free week to listen to their sales pitch. There are condos, duplexes, homes and the Motorhome Village. This is really a very impressive place. It has been around since 1996. Everything is really well maintained. The people have...

We are proud godparents of Gracie and Griffin Bacon, two shih tzu pups who belong to our Beaver friends, and Alaska traveling pals Gene and Barb Bacon. Last year we baby sat these two bundles of energy for a couple of weeks, and we’re looking forward to taking care of them again next year when their folks go on vacation. But right now, we got to go visit the family in Stoneridge, Idaho. It’s a gorgeous resort up in the panhandle near Blanchard, ID, not far from where Jim lived and worked for a spell before we met. Gene had told us they’d be...

Jul 7, 2011 - StoneRidge

Today we drove about 100 miles and we traveled north on the east side of the Pend Oreille River to just south of the town call Ione in Washington. We traveled through a a portion of the Kalispell Indian Tribal Grounds and basically what we observed were trees and a very swollen and fast running river. Just below Ione we crossed a bridge and then travel down the westerns side of the river to the town of Newport, Washington where we ad lunch in a very nice Mexican Restaurant. As mentioned the river is very high and there were areas where...

Jul 6, 2011 - StoneRidge, Idaho

Today is Wednesday and we are still in StoneRidge RV Park Resort. On Monday the park had activities all day long to celebrate the 4th. The first activity was a flag raising ceremony at 0900 which lasted about thirty minutes. It included singing our National Anthem and the reading of the Pledge of Allegiance by a young lady and a reciting of the meaning of each word by a retired Air Force officer. The next activity was a golf cart parade and everyone with a golf cart had decorated their golf cart and paraded throughout the entire complex. In...

Jul 3, 2011 - StoneRidge RV Resort

We arrived at StoneRidge RV Resort around noon time. The RV resort is a small part of a very large single family home, condominium, and RV development with the primary feature being golf. A feature that means absolutely nothing to Ross. We are here for seven days because Marge talked to someone at the Indio FMCA Rally in January and they sent us an invitation to stay at this resort for seven days free. The setting is beautiful. The property is located in a valley surrounded by low, heavily forested mountains. The valley where the RV resort...
