May 18, 2018 - Heading Home

This was our last morning in Hawaii. We woke up just past 6 and took a walk on the path along the water. Beautiful morning. Had banana bread from Halfway To Hana for breakfast, then cleaned up and packed up. Stopped at Costco to fill up the rental car ($3.37/gal) and got to the airport almost 2 hours ahead of flight. Five hours to Los Angeles. Uneventful. Lost 3 hours. Had some dinner at the airport since no food on plane. Last leg to Atlanta. We left about 10:30 pm and got to ATL at 5:30 am Friday after losing another 3 hours. Driving home...

May 17, 2018 - Last full day in Maui

Today was our last full day in Hawaii. Jim got up around 6:30 and went for a walk. After breakfast of banana bread and coffee, we headed to the pool. Beautiful day. Sun, low 80’s and light wind. Reading, swimming, walking on the beach. Lunch by the pool. My kind of day! Finally went in around 3, cleaned up and headed out to find a t-shirt. Then went to Monkeypod Kitchen about a half mile inland. We saw it last night when we went for pizza. Crowded. So checked it out online and reviews were good. Found 2 seats at the bar. Reviews were spot...

May 16, 2018 - Sunday in Lahaina

Realized we forgot to post about Sunday (Mother’sDay). We drove up to Kapalua and saw the Plantation course where the pros play a tournament each year. Beautiful, but windy. Then drove south thru Ka’anapali and stopped in Lahaina. Walked around Front Street looking at some shops and then decided to get a late lunch at Koi 156 right on the water. Mother’s Day crowds were gone by then, so quite enjoyable. Drove back to Wailea and relaxed. Not too hungry after late lunch, so just sat at the bar at Humble Market Kitchen here at the resort. I...

May 13, 2018 - Day 2 in Maui-Luau

Our second day in Maui began with breakfast nearby. Jim took a walk along the water while I relaxed in the room. Hip bothering me. Forgot to take ibuprofen last night. Then we headed to the pool. Used lots of sunscreen and it helped. Even did some exercises in the pool. Split some lettuce wraps by the pool, then headed back to the room to get ready for the Luau. We booked the Luau right here at the Marriott resort. About 3 hours, which included dinner and entertainment. It certainly looked like the dancers were enjoying themselves. If not,...

May 11, 2018 - Last day in Honolulu, first day in Maui

Spent our last morning in Waikiki, Oahu. Cloudy early. Flew Hawaiian Air to Kahului, Maui. Picked up the Jeep at Hertz and made our way south to Wailea. Stopped for “supplies” at a Safeway in Kihei and then stopped for lunch at Paia Seafood Market. Grilled Ono for me, fish and chips for Jim. Good. Checked into the Marriott Resort in Wailea. Very nice place. Everyone friendly. But..... got to our “upgraded room” and found the Luau area right outside room. Plus, there was loud music and construction with power tools. Not relaxing at all. So,...

Nov 29, 2016 - Wailea, Maui

The real purpose of our two week trip to the Hawaiian Islands was to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We had celebrated our 10th anniversary with a one week trip to the island of Maui. After visiting the different resorts, we decided that on a future return trip we would stay at the Waldorf Astoria Grand Wailea. Little did we know that it would take ten more years to return and that it would be to celebrate our 20th anniversary. WALDORF ASTORIA GRAND WAILEA On our arrival, we were greeted by the manager assigned to us for our stay....

Mar 4, 2013 - Wailea Beach Day

Decided to rent a couple beach chairs and head south to the beaches. Drove down to Kilea and Wailea.. Talk about expensive houses and resorts. They are beautiful .. Found a great beach, set up our chairs, and enjoyed our cooler full of beer & wine in the sunshine . It's going to be hard to say goodbye to Maui. We've had an amazing time here!

Dec 10, 2011 - Mellow in Maui

It's been a great week in Maui! Cam and Michele picked us up at the airport and drove us to our condo in the Wailea Ekahi Village complex. I great little one bed, two bath condo with everything we needed for the week. We had a private lanai surrounded by bougainvillea, complete with bbq and water toys to take to the beach. The grounds are immaculately kept and we had a pleasant .5km walk through the green belts and gardens of the complex to get to the large, heated pool beside the beautiful, long white sand beach. Cam and Michele were in a...

Jul 10, 2009 - Snorkeling at Po'olenanlena Beach

Today we snorkeled at Po'olenlena Beach in Wailea, recommended by our guide for its excellent snorkeling. And we weren't disappointed. I saw a variety of fish and even swam with a turtle! That was exciting. And I'm not sure but I think I saw a shark or two. Luckily they didn't see me!! We don't have any pictures for this snorkel trip. Of course, the day you decide not to bring your underwater camera is the day you have the best snorkel experience. This is always the case, isn't it? Afterwards we lunched again in Paia, which has becaome a...
