Mar 4, 2013 - Wailea Beach Day

Decided to rent a couple beach chairs and head south to the beaches. Drove down to Kilea and Wailea.. Talk about expensive houses and resorts. They are beautiful .. Found a great beach, set up our chairs, and enjoyed our cooler full of beer & wine in the sunshine . It's going to be hard to say goodbye to Maui. We've had an amazing time here!

Dec 10, 2011 - Mellow in Maui

It's been a great week in Maui! Cam and Michele picked us up at the airport and drove us to our condo in the Wailea Ekahi Village complex. I great little one bed, two bath condo with everything we needed for the week. We had a private lanai surrounded by bougainvillea, complete with bbq and water toys to take to the beach. The grounds are immaculately kept and we had a pleasant .5km walk through the green belts and gardens of the complex to get to the large, heated pool beside the beautiful, long white sand beach. Cam and Michele were in a...

Jul 10, 2009 - Snorkeling at Po'olenanlena Beach

Today we snorkeled at Po'olenlena Beach in Wailea, recommended by our guide for its excellent snorkeling. And we weren't disappointed. I saw a variety of fish and even swam with a turtle! That was exciting. And I'm not sure but I think I saw a shark or two. Luckily they didn't see me!! We don't have any pictures for this snorkel trip. Of course, the day you decide not to bring your underwater camera is the day you have the best snorkel experience. This is always the case, isn't it? Afterwards we lunched again in Paia, which has becaome a...

Jul 9, 2009 - Recuperation Day

After so many activities in so many days we decided to take it easy today. We began by driving back to Paia for breakfast at Charley's, then stopped at a bakery to buy some more malasadas. We returned to Wailea and the gut bomb effect from the breakfast and the malasadas enabled me to take a much needed siesta.

Jul 3, 2009 - Snorkel, Swim, Eat, Shop, Eat, Shop, Eat

This morning we snorkeled and sunned at Maluaka Beach. Unfortunately the surf was rough, and we got a bit scratched up on he rocks and coral. First aid followed. The water was so murky I didn't see any fish, but Donald saw two! Lucky. I swam out to a reef and got a glimpse of some nice coral, but it was a might scary sloshing about with the waves so I didn't stay long. I made up for the lack of good snorkeling by swimming quite a bit. Got a good workout, which later was undermined by good eating. Lunch was at Sam Sato's, famous on the...

Jul 3, 2009 - Jeeps are Fun

Jeeps are not necessary on Maui. We thought about renting a car this time around but decided against it. And we're glad we did. This Jeep came in handy when we needed to navigate oncoming traffic on a stretch of narrow, winding road on the western tip of Maui. Aside from being practical, Jeeps are just fun!

Jul 2, 2009 - Beach Day

Today we spent some time relaxing at the local beach, which isn't a great beach by any stretch (as far as Hawaiian beaches go, that is!) It's your basic crowded tourist beach. However, the sun doesn't discriminate against your choice of beaches here, and the water was fine for swimming. We'll be searching out some better beaches later on in our trip. After the beach we ate Maui Tacos in Kihei, a great local place to get good Mexican food at a reasonable price. Our tab for two burritos and two drinks came to $16.50. We recommend the Lahaina,...

Jun 30, 2009 - Kahului to Wailea

As I drive through Kahului I can't help but get the feeling that I could be anywhere. Its a busy litttle town with lots of streets, lights, and traffic. People jostle for parking spots. Kids cry and fight in the aisles. And cops pull over traffic offenders. Why, yes, I could be anywhere... it could be any busy city in the US. As soon as I leave Kahului city limits, however. I immediately feel that uneasy feeling fade into the distance. Wailea is a mere 15 miles from Kahului but it might as well be 1500. The peace and calm that surrounds...

Feb 26, 2009 - Lahaina & The Shops At Wailea.

Got up today to a quite a bit of wind here so we cruised over to Lahaina which is always in the lee of the mountains thus, no wind and plenty of heat. Could have gone East towards Hana but it looked like rain over there. Lahaina was hot, we spent the day walking around old churches and cemeteries reading the headstones. I like to do this as it really grounds me. Sad to see the graves of very young people that really never got to live much... The beaches on the South side of town are quite flat sandy and behind a reef. This makes the water...

Rox & Brad In Maui!

Feb 25, 2009 - Jimmy Buffett & The Shops At Wailea!

We had fresh mango with yogurt, granola, and raisins on top for breakfast. This was made by Rox, very good, and good for us! Next we were off to check out turtle bay. This is just up the road about 8 minutes. But on the way to turtle bay we stopped in to check out the shops at Wailea. This turned out to be a bit longer that I planed so I did not have time to swim, but Rox had time to buy a new shirt. There are some pretty high end shops there, Rolex, Tiffany's, all the stuff. Next off to meet Snapper and Sue at 3:30 to get ready for the...
