Jan 23, 2012 - Oahu, Hawaii

Wow, it’s amazing how quickly a week goes by when you’re having fun! It seems redundant to say how beautiful it is here as everyone in the world knows that already. But as first time visitors we have to say it is really beautiful. The sun has been shining every day and the threat of rain this week seems to have disappeared. We started out on Tuesday nice and slow with a walk along Waikiki beach and exploring the shopping areas. The shops are amazing, some very posh – Chanel, Prada etc and others basic, i.e - the 40+ ABC general stores in...

Hawaii2012

Oct 14, 2011 - NY .. NY

Hi, When I looked out the plane window and saw a landscape coloured sand/greyand mud, with a massive river running across the horizon, I thought "this looks just like Montana"!  Haha!  As smart as I am :-) the in-flight map pinpointed where I was.   other than knowing the sun was the same one that also shone on you, my body clock was so whacked all I knew was that the plane was headed for New York.  I wasnt even sure if I had made it into Friday. On Thurs I met the group for another easy swim and delivered my bike to my friend who was...

Oct 12, 2011 - Mai Tais with The Duke!

Hi Everyone Dreams come true! You just have to keep believing! As a surfie kid I paddled my surferplane (remember those blow up beds, pre boogie board days), then my surfboard, watched Nat Young surf movies, had posters stuck around my bedroom and dreamed of coming to Waikiki! I guess u know that Hawaii/ US of A is not the place to lose weight! After our early (8am- that's early now) swim along Waikiki Beach (tuff, I know), i found a place for brekky. Coconut Delight looked good. 2 massive pancakes, homefries (potatoes cut into pieces and...

Mar 28, 2011 - HAWAII - Insel OAHU: Waikiki & Umgebung

Mar 18, 2011 - O'ahu - Day 37 to 39 - Sweet Relaxation

After over a month of tenting and taking in all the sight seeing and hikes here in Hawaii we've decided to just relax the last three days. Jason returned the rental car on Wednesday so the last couple of days we've been planning our next leg of adventure which will be Fiji for two weeks and on to New Zealand for a month. We leave for Fiji this Sunday morning at 8:30am and arrive there Monday just a little after 12 noon - we gain 16 hours.....how weird and wonderful is that. We are going to try "couch surfing" which will be another new...

Mar 11, 2011 - O'ahu - Day 32 - Walking the Waikiki strip

After sleeping in from the Tsunami action from the night before we headed out to walk the Waikiki beach and hotel strip. The beach is absolutely beautiful, nice sand and the beach goes on forever. There is a pier just off the beach right outside from our condo, we can see ourselves retiring someplace like this and waking up every morning to an awesome sunrise and beautiful teal ocean views. Not to mention the sunsets, wow the colors are truly an artists pallet. We ended up at Senior Frogs for an early supper. Still feeling a bit out of...

Mar 11, 2011 - O'ahu - Survived the Tsunami in Waikiki

We are alive and well in Waikiki. What a night, the evacuation started to happen just a little after 10pm once the first siren sounded. We were advised to stay put since we are on the 9th floor of our hotel building. The hotel staff moved everyone to the 3rd floor and higher, tourists were coming in off the street looking for any available rooms that were on the 3rd or above to no avail. What seemed like dozens of police cars cruised up and down the streets evacuating people and announcing over their blow horns that a Tsunami wave was...

Mar 10, 2011 - O'ahu - Waikiki Tsunami Evacuation

There has been a Tsunami evacuation warning issued here for all Hawaii States. We are on Oahu, in Waikiki at our friend Dan's condo just off the beach so we are in the RED area. We arrived yesterday on Jason's birthday. A siren will sound in about 6 minutes which is 10:40pm our time. We have been advised to stay in our building because we are on the 9th floor. We are at the Waikiki Grand Hotel about 2.6km's from Diamond Head Crater which if we are told to leave we will go and climb for safety. The Tsunami will hit here around 2:59am, sirens...

Mar 9, 2011 - O'ahu - Day 31 - Jason's 34th B-day Waikiki

Woke up nice and early this morning from our campsite on the beach, right next to Salt Pond park, on the south side of Kauai. We couldn't stay in the park because of a sewer line leak, so we stayed directly on the beach next to it. Made our way to the airport and caught a Go! airlines flight back to Honolulu, where we picked up our car rental. We got an free upgrade to an HHR (looks like a PT cruiser)... happy birthday to me! :) From here, we made our way out to our home for the next week or so, a condo that our friend Dan was nice enough...

Po obědě v místním fastfoodu Taco Bell jel Petr opět do Pearl Harbor, kde navštívil Pacific Aviation muzeum, Marti si vybrala k prohlídce Bishop muzeum,...

Dec 26, 2010 - Beach Bum and Luau

It was raining once again on and off today, so I watched the Bears game from my bed, since the games here start at 7am! haha Afer that I went to the beach and read my book and finally decided to do this travel journal, so I got started on writing the details before I forget. It is humorous to look back at my entries from last year and laugh at them. Who knows where I will be a year from now!? That night I went to a Luau, since it was raining, it got moved indoors, so the fire tricks they normally do were not allowed. The food was delicious,...

Dec 18, 2010 - Wandering around Wakiki and Exploring the Cruise Ship

Since I got plenty of sleep last night and Hawaii is 3 hours behind Arizona I woke up at the crack of dawn and found the closest Starbucks for breakfast and hot Chocolate. I then strolled along the shore and out to the pier to see the sunrise over DiamondHead mountain, it was beautiful! I then walked down the main street called Kalakuna and saw all the shops, there are SO many souviners shops called ABC Stores! haha Then I continued walking and the high end shops are all on this street as well. It was nice to see many of the shops and...
