Mar 29, 2018 - Waikiki, Thursday, March 29

Waikiki: The Allure of Turquoise I never thought much about it before, but the color turquoise speaks to me. Sure it helps that I’m surrounded by it in our beautiful apartment. From the artwork to the tastefully curated furnishings and continuing on to the beginning of the infinity ocean, it washes over me with breaking waves of peace and tranquility. Hawaiian Radio on Pandora certainly has its charms too. I feel my hips start to involuntarily sway while brushing my teeth or washing dishes at the sink with the full ocean staring back at me....

Just when we were tired of being tourists, we were living on the 24th floor of a secure high rise in downtown Waikiki. We loved the excitement and energy of the city. We were two blocks from the beach, less than a block from bus stops, and surrounded by shops and restaurants. For Oahu we bought an unlimited rides bus pass. The bus system was...

My first full day in Waikiki Hawaii. I woke up to have nutella toast and a hot chocolate for breakfast. I then went to the pool in our hotel tower, with my dad. The pool is on the fourth floor of the hotel, and has a spa and a great view of the ocean. We later went to the beach, before dinner. As it was Bastille Day, we dined at a French restaurant, La Mer for dinner. I ate a seafood soup, beef cheeks and souflle. The food was delicious and the service very good.

Across from his statue was the Royal Palace, which happened to be shown in the original Hawaii Five-O television series as the police station! We rode past other areas, such as China Town, the early Portuguese quarters, the Chinese cemetery and then high up on the mountain to the Punchbowl....
