Da die regierung vor ca. 4 Jahren die letzten Inter-Island-Faehrverbindungen komplett einstellte, boten sich fuer uns nur noch 3 Moeglichkeiten: selber Schwimmen, per Anhalter via freundlich gesinnter Wal- oder Haiflossse oder per Flugzeug. Wir entschieden uns fuer Letzteres. So sahen wir beim Flug von Oahu auf die Insel Maui, im Ueberflug, die ebenfalls bewohnten Inseln Lanai und Molokai, sowie eine Kuriositaet: den halb aus dem Wasser ragenden Molokini-Krater eines zur Zeit schlafenden Unterwasser-Vulkans. May 27, 2008 - Day 3 - ALL day on Lana'i!!! Jeep Safari!!!

This was the day we'd been looking forward to since our last visit to Maui! We departed from the Lahaina Harbor at 6:45AM aboard the Expeditions ferry to Manele Harbor on Lana'i. It takes about 45 minutes to reach Lana'i and the ferry is not for the seasick prone. I got very nauseous, but I think it had more to do with Excedrine on an empty stomach than the motion of the ocean:) The ferry drops you off at Manele Bay on Lanai and we were picked up by a shuttle (actually it was waiting on us upon arrival)that took us to Lana'i City where we...

Jan 24, 2008 - Day 2 in Maui

Day 2 in Maui: This day was by far the sunniest day we had experienced since leaving Honolulu. We boarded a bus in Kahului and traveled across to the other side of the island to Lahaina. There we boarded a ferry that would take us across to the island of Lanai. During the 45 minute ride across to Lanai, we spotted several humpback whales that were up for feeding.
