Feb 18, 2011 - Hawaii - Day 12 - Kohala Mountains

No whales this morning to set off our day but the sun was out and the road was calling. We drove through the Kohala mountains, the landscape from the south to the north here is very differen't. You go from tons of lava rock to grass covered green fields that remind us of back home except for all the cactus. The road was winding and scenic with horse ranches all along the way, the locals call this "cowboy" country due to fields and all the tall pine trees - that's right pine trees. Who would have known that on Hawaii you would see palm trees...
