Mar 3, 2010 - We have arrived!

After a mere four hours sleep we greeted our shuttle driver right on time at 5:30am. This is definitely the way to travel- hassle free. Actually the entire airport experience was smoother than I could've dreamed. All flights on time, pretty good airport bar breakfast, and our bags were waiting on the carousel for us when we got here! Nov 30, 2007 - Kauai (Day 1) Cloudy & Rainy

We drove over to the Hyatt, mainly to get the Wall Street Journal, and stayed for quite a while. They had a native craft show — basically a much more commercial replica of the festival we attended at Volcano National Park on the Big Island in 2005, and Hawaiian entertainment. We had breakfast on a beautiful lanai, and then...

Nov 2, 2005 - Kalaheo Critters

At 11pm on Halloween night, I was sitting in my Kalaheo studio rental. Suddenly I felt something brush the top of my left foot. I looked down and saw a gigantic centipede. I should have whacked it or covered it with a bowl. But this centipede was five inches long and as wide as my pointer finger. I was too stunned to scream. It escaped in the corner and I barely slept. In the morning it made no appearance...until I was almost out the door. Then I spotted it on the screen (see picture!). My host had arranged for a cleaning lady to come, but...
