Aug 22, 2011 - Iao Valley Hawaii

The beautiful Iao Valley is a great place for a hike. Just outside of Wailuku, it's very easy to access the car park and begin to climb the peaks of the valley. When I hiked the area it was very wet and made for some interesting situations, as many areas are also quite steep. Barefoot was the best way to go.

Havaj 2011

Dec 17, 2006 - Ill on Maui

We are heading to Kahului on Maui today so that we get to see some of the other islands. The fares here range from $29 to $79 and for only $105 you can get a first class ticket...if you book early enough as there are only four. We boarded without hassle and which was after going through a full check at customs. Once again they tried to tell us that it's random but please, who do they think they are kidding? Full swabs were taken of our possessions including our camera's. Everyone was aboard and ready to roll but there was a hydraulic fluid...

Oct 25, 2006 - Maui, Hawaii

We came to Maui Monday night on a quick, but pretty rough and not very fun flight from Oahu. I love Maui...was here 7 years ago and not much has seemd to have changed here since then. We stayed with Emily, another former Hopkins employee-turned-traveller who is working as a nurse at a small hospital here. She had a beautiful, oceanfront condo which faced Haleakala. We got up at the crack of dawn Tues morning (around 3:30 a.m) to make the winding drive up to the summit of Haleakala to see the sunrise. The sunrise did not...

Mar 7, 2006 - Hilo (The Big Island) - Wailuku (Maui)

Another early start as taxi was picking us up at 6.40am to take us to the airport. Caught flight on another propelled plane. Flight was very short but a bit shaky! Got shuttle to Banana Bungalow. We were tired so we had a chilled out day laying in the hammocks. Had tacos for dinner then relaxed in the hot tub. Ok place but weird guy in dorm who wouldn't speak to us and went to bed at 9.30pm!
