Mar 30, 2013 - OTRA - GA - Woodbine
WE'RE ON THE ROAD AGAIN Finally!! Hit the highway about 10:30 after bidding farewell to a really nice part of South Carolina. We're on our way to Woodbine, Georgia...a short trip on Route 17 then 140 miles on I-95. Bob's back is still bothering him some but 4 Advils put the pain in abeyance for awhile so we figured now was the time to leave. We thought traffic on the northbound side of I-95 would be a bit congested with all the snowbirds (mostly Canadians) heading north but, my goodness, so was the traffic going south! Must be all those...

We need to make a correction from our last journal entry. RV friends Pat and Howard Bates told us they visited a metal kazoo factory in Eden NY. Eden has the only metal manufacturing kazoo plant in the United States. The Kazoo Factory in Beaumont, SC is the only plastic kazoo assembly in the United States. Woodbine, GA was a short two day stop to visit longtime friends, Richard and Delores Miles. These two wonderful people have been married for 69 years. Ralph and I feel like youngsters and hope to make it for that many years and more...

Nov 27, 2011 - Woodbine, GA
Nov 25th – Today we traveled down I-95 to Woodbine, GA. We are stopping here for two days to visit some long time friends in Brunswick, GA. Richard and Delores Miles are longtime wonderful friends who we look forward to seeing when we come this way. Dick was the Brunswick plant manager when Ralph worked at Stone Construction back in the 70’s. Ralph used to fly down to Brunswick a couple of times a year to do some routine meetings and I would go along at least once a year. While Ralph spent time at the plant, Delores would pick me up and...

Nov 30, 2010 - First Stop - Woodbine, GA
And so it begins. It is the last day of November in the year 2010 and I am in the southernmost regions of Georgia in these our United States. It is a wonderful evening following a most beautiful day topping out at about 85 degrees. Late afternoon brought large cumulus clouds threatening thunderstorm activity but the high winds blew them on out to sea leaving a very pleasant evening. After months of preparation, a trial run to the NC mountains and a few mistakes, my new adventure began officially, yesterday. A week earlier the real goodbyes...

Oct 27, 2010 - Just traveling
Today was a travel day, as we are headed to South Florida, intending to be at my cousin's by late Friday. It was fairly uneventful, although the heat is not what we would like. Linda is beat, read to have a "meltdown," especially in that tomorrow's forecast is much the same as that of today. We spent most of the day on the interstate (I-95) which runs not far from the coast through Georgia to Jacksonville, FL (planning to be though there tomorrow). What I didn't expect was how much of the land along the highway is marsh or swamp -- large...

May 20, 2010 - Georgia
Hi guys and gals, Sorry, no photos today. We should have had the camera this morning when we took at least a half hour just to get the car on the Kaddy! It would have been your entertainment for the day. Took over a dozen tries. Car went on fine, but it was either too tight on one side, or ("turn wheel the other way just a fuzz") too tight on the other. Last time, I drove it on perfectly with one try. Today, I was sure that one of us was going to stay home and file for divorce!! Anyhow, we did fine after we got the sweat wiped out of our...

May 1, 2010 - Out of Florida
The journey began by moving out of my winter home up to the parking lot of a nearby casino for the night. I had dinner at a relatively new Cuban restaurant with my Florida family and a couple of friends. Jeanne just had her last day of work and is now a retired lady! We had a great time with lots of laughs and good cheer. After saying my goodbyes to them and to the dogs, I spent the night at the casino. While the parking lot was very full (took me awhile to find a spot somewhere near my home), things were quiet and peaceful. This morning, I...

Today we said goodbye to Harold & Sharon who we had originally met in Myrtle Beach, they are leaving for Florida this morning. It was sad to say goodbye but we will meet up with them again in Florida as have been nice enought to say they will take us to the airport when we leave for Mexico. They were a fantastic couple to spend time with. We went out for dinner last night to a BBQ place we all had all you can eat ribs, oh my goodness they were delicious. Afterwards we came back home and played cards for the rest of the evening. We went...

Oct 29, 2009 - Woodbine Georgia
Today we drove to Woodbine Georgia it was a really nice drive. We started on the non-major routes to drive down winding our way through smaller towns and enjoying the scenery. We were lucky we went this way because we ended up getting gas at 2.40 a gallon compared to when we got onto Hwy 95 at 2.79 a gallon. It took us about 7 hours to get down we stopped a few times at rest stops and had lunch and something to drink we really just took our time. As you are driving down you see so many lakes and rivers winding around the cities. It is very...

Oct 26, 2009 - King George RV Resort, Woodbine, Georgia
Monday, October 26, 2009 We left Chet & Colleen's RV Campground around 8:30 this morning. It was 52 degrees but very pleasant. We connected the car in the driveway and had no trouble getting out of the drive. It was a lot easier getting out than it was getting in. Chet showed us a shortcut to get to I75 and we saved around 20 miles. Thanks Chet. We arrived at the King George RV Park in the early afternoon after traveling 310 miles. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 Jekyll Island in Brunswick, GA was our destination for today since it was only about...

Dec 3, 2008 - Woodbine, GA - King George RV "Resort"
We spent two nights here on our way to Clermont, Florida. The price was right and that's about it. Would not want to be here during or after a rain as it would be a mud hole. We did drive to nearby St. Mary's, Georgia for a quick look at this area. It is located right along the mouth of the St. Mary's River where it dumps into the intercoastal. This is a very scenic, historic town and we enjoyed a nice walk along the boardwalk and park.
