Apr 7, 2013 - We're on the road again!
I finished my work at Live Oak Landing, we packed up Winnie and headed northeast to Georgia. Our route took us inland across the Panhandle along US 90 before heading northeast. We crossed the Chatahoochee River, the FL-GA border, just west of Donalsonville, GA where we got on US 84. We followed this highway to Valdosta where we're spending the night. The highways were pretty good for the most part and most of 84 is 4-lane with little or no traffic. Today's route passes through mostly agricultural land in both states. Pecans and peanuts...

Mar 14, 2013 - Valdosta, Georgia
We have left the state of Florida and are spending the night in Valdosta, GA about 5 miles into Georgia. Yesterday we were out riding around and stopped at the Fantasy of Flight museum. They have a lot of old airplanes there as well as a zip line and a huge structure that has all types of rope walks to test your agility. You must be in a harness to climb up on it. We were amazed at the young children up on it as well as teens and adults. There were several teenaged employees up there to help anyone having trouble - especially at each end of...

Apr 27, 2012 - Its a Small World
While in Valdosta we stayed at Cain's Creekside RV Park. This is a very nice, small (10 sites) campground, conveniently located for visiting and taking care of stuff. It is also a Passport America Campground with a Passport rate of $16/night for FHU. We will stay here again. One evening I went out to put somethings in the truck and the gentleman next store asked what year our Airstream was. I told him and talked about the fulltime lifestyle and several other things. During the conversation he mentioned his Aunt and Uncle had been active...

Apr 24, 2012 - Catching Up
So after a very long winter at Top of Georgia Airstream Park, a very busy tax season, wonderful quality time with the 4 grandkids and Claudia getting sick about the time we were ready to pullout for the summer, we made it back on the road. We moved up to Duckett Mill COE Campground on Lake Lanier for a week to get ourselves ready to travel. Well, the best laid plans of mice and men.....Claudia caught a terrible disease from Eli, our 3 year old grandson. We delayed our departure date a day and cancelled our planned visit to Milledgeville,...

We went to bed around 1 am after checking the computer and some card games around the table. We our in bed and Norma puts her hand down the front of the mattress and feels that it is wet. I check my side of the bed and found wetness on my side at the top and side down about a foot or so. Not much we can do now, so shall sleep on it until we get up. We found that driving in all the rain the day before that rain water had leaked in the front window , down the wall next to the mattress. The sheets, pad and floor rugs were wet and had to be...

I got up and started to put the rest of the things that we were going to take on the trip in the trailer. Then it was time to put down all the awnings on the house and put away some items that might want to fly away in a hurricane. Norma got up just after I did and was ready to go before I was, but not until after her soap's at 10:30. We were ready to head on down...

May 11, 2011 - When in doubt...Fix it yourself
Today has been a very quiet day. We stayed around the campground pretty much waiting for the parts we had ordered for the electrical cord came in. The furthest we ventured out was across the highway to the outlet mall. I was able to find a new pair of sandal’s and Bill found himself a small Black and Decker drill that he had been looking for… We were home in time for lunch which we enjoyed very much since we were eating lots of the fresh veggies we had bought at the market.. Yummm. When we hadn’t hear by 2:00 Bill went up to the RV Store...

May 10, 2011 - Our day in Southern Georgia
I mentioned yesterday that we got as far as Mile 5 into Georgia and Bill had found out electrical cord burnt on both ends. That is not something we want to play around with so we stopped at the last Sun Coast RV before we went further north.. Sun Coast is who we bought our Big Sky from during a huge RV Show in Tampa two years ago.. They have about 5 different dealers in Florida and one in Georgia. Because we bought from them we get privileges from any of their shops. Usually it means a 10% discount on parts and labor which we won’t sneeze...

May 9, 2011 - Leaving Florida... Day one
Gosh… I have been having trouble lately and most of it is my fault… I have been using Mytripjournal.com for our journey every year since we first met them at a rally in Minden, OR the first year we were on the road. We signed up for the premium sight and paid each year to bring our journey to you… It has been worth every penny but when ours expired in December this year and we had taken a break from posting our days we didn’t renew. When we started up again about a week ago I tried their free website.. Not good.. There is a limit on the...
