We went to Toccoa to visit the Currahee Military Museum. It poured all the way, but by the time we got to town the rain backed off enough to get out of the car. While Sue shopped in the antique mall, I went over to the museum. It's run by the Stephens County Historical Society. The displays cover some of the history of Toccoa and Stephens County as well as Camp Toccoa which was located a couple of miles from town at the foot of Currahee Mountain. Jul 7, 2012 - July 3 - Manchester, Tn to Toccoa, Ga.
July 3: Today is our last day on the road as we left Manchester, Tn. and head home, Toccoa, Ga.. I have traveled this section many times in the past when we went to either Missouri or Illinois so I know the roads by heart. We arrived home around 1 PM in the afternoon. Wow is it great to know I don't have to drive 300 or 400 miles tomorrow. We are home we are home, Jerry & Joanna

ALASKA TRIP SUMMARY: Joanna and I want to thank everyone who has followed us accross the USA and Canada for the last 8 weeks. We enjoyed many of the sites and scenery as we traveled. It was interesting to see the many landscapes that are the same from state to state and providence to providence and yet there are many differences. The mountains and rocks of Canada and Alaska are different than the rock formations and mountains in the US. May 10, 2012 - Day 1 - Home to Elizabethtown, Ky.
Day 1 of our journey has begun. We drove 460 miles from home in Georgia to Elizabethtown, Ky.. It wasn't a bad day except for the traffic jam in Nashville, Tn.. Tomorrow we only have to drive 400 miles to Crystal Lake, Il.. After planning this trip for 6 months it sure feels good to be on our way. Jerry & Joanna
