OUR HOUSE...STATESBORO, GA FRIDAY This evening we are back home in the 'boro, after a long day. The coach is in the shop in Columbus and the part should be delivered on Tuesday. The day started at 0700...at 0745 I called the mobile service to come and remove the shock absorber from the right front side. They were there before 10 and had it out in about 30 minutes. Now I could steer all the way right and left. Edie started packing our clothes in garbage bags, cleaning out the refrigerator and getting the rest of our necessities together...

HOME...STATESBORO, GA...SUNDAY. We got up at 0730 after a good nights sleep in North Carolina. There was very little wind during the night and no rain. Our timing in relation to Sandy worked out fine. This morning's weather was mild, with some north wind blowing, as forecasted. We pulled out a little after 0900 and cruised down I95 South with the wind pushing us. I was still running on the tank of gas that we left Gap with yesterday. 100 miles later, we pulled into "South of The Border" just across the South Carolina border and took on...

AT HOME IN STATESBORO TUESDAY 4/24/12 Our weekend was pretty hectic, but enjoyable, visiting family and friends. This morning I aired up the coach tires before leaving for the 167 mile trip back home. Low temperatures had taken their toll on the tire pressures. I did not get to take the airplane ride on Sunday evening due to high winds. The Stearman does not handle well at all in windy conditions. However we had a great visit with Fran and Jack and a good dinner. Left their house that evening with about half of a delicious homemade apple...

Jul 16, 2011 - Run for home.
HOME-STATESBORO,GA. 7/16/11 Got out of bed at still dark thirty this morning. We both were anxious to get started, apparently. We were on the road at 0730 with 487 miles to go. Had a few rainshowers in Mississippi and Alabama and mostly cloudy, so it was not as hot as it has been. We stopped in the Georgia Welcome center for a rest, a little walk and a snack at 1130. Planned to stop at the Cracker Barrel in Madison for a late lunch. When we got there, the rv parking spots were full of cars and we couldn't park. So we pulled into a filling...

Jul 18, 2010 - Mad Dash For Home
HOME, STATESBORO, GA. SATURDAY We got away from Tupelo at 0850 central, so it was already 0950 at home. Mostly interstate roads all the way. At the Georgia line we lost one hour. Finally made an eating stop at Dublin, GA. at a Cracker Barrel. They are the only restaurants that feature RV parking slots. Of course half the time they have some jerk's car or SUV in them. This time there was one open, so we had a good supper. Pulled into the driveway at home at 7:30. The gps trip meter said we did a driving average of 60 mph. Not bad for a...

Jun 9, 2010 - Days 13, 14 & 15 - Resting up and seeing Savannah
We have had a few down days which has felt really good. We visited the lovely city of Savannah. Lunch, then a trip to River Street Sweets Candy Store (Ben's favorite store). Savannah is a beautiful city, oozing with southern charm. Bob loves old buildings, so he was in heaven as he shot more than 200 pictures with his new camera. Susan has been teaching him how to shoot interesting pictures and he is really learning quickly. Tomorrow we are off to Natchez Trace campground in TN, where we will meet up with Steph and her family on Friday for...

Jun 6, 2010 - Days 10, 11 & 12 - Lake Oconee
Friday started with another trip to get the trailer brakes on the Titanium fixed. The repair company actually redesigned the system so the failure would not happen again. They did a great job. Then off to Lake Oconee about 150 miles northwest of Statesboro to camp in both rigs. This was the first time the Jayco was actually used, so we were watching all of the systems: air conditioning, refrigerator, water system, electrical, etc. On Sunday we noticed a water leak in the bottom of the Jayco. We will have it diagnosed tomorrow. Everything...

Jun 3, 2010 - Day 9 - Susan
Most of today was spent getting the brakes on the Titanium fixed. Upon further investigation the problem ended up being a broken fitting on the wheel cylinder that caused all of the brake fluid to drain out. The result - no brakes. One of the tires had cracks in it, so it had to be replaced. When Bob drove the trailer back to the rv campground, the brakes failed again. First thing tomorrow it will go back to the shop. We hope it will be fixed by the time we expect to leave on a camping trip with Dwight's (Lynda's son) family. Today was...

Jun 2, 2010 - Day 8 - Ben
We arrived safely in Statesboro, GA to visit with Lynda's son Dwight and his family. We arrived on Ben's 12th birthday. His favorite gift was a BB gun. Everyone duck! We feel God's protection from all of your prayers. There are numerous times that events could have ended in disaster, where God has protected us. Last night Bob onramped in the wrong lane--offramp. An 18 wheeler came down the offramp and missed our rig. He was able to get on the highway safely, but it was a close call. The trip from TN to GA has a lot of upgades and...
