Mar 3, 2011 - Practice Makes Perfect

Today was another gorgeous day to be on the road. We took I-75 for the short 120-mile drive from Valdosta to Perry this morning. We had intended an early start, but we didn’t get away quite as quickly as planned. We got up at our usually time this morning, drank a couple cups of coffee and had our breakfast. We were ready to leave about 8 AM. I elected to drive first rather than later, so off we headed for the gas station. Since we had no place to go last evening other than to do our shopping at Walmart, we left the car hitched. This...

Scratchin' the Itch

Jul 12, 2010 - HRRVC International Rally

Arrived at the Escapee Park - Raccoon Valley RV Park in Heiskell, Tennessee. The American Museum of Science and Energy, Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Went to the New Hope Visitor's Center and found out we could take a bus tour. Hey, we are really into letting them drive and give us a guided tour of Oak Ridge. The bus stopped at the Y-12 Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) Lobby and Graphite Reactor, and the K-25 Overlook. Oak Ridge was created in 1942 as a major site of the "Manhattan Project", a massive wartime effort which produced the world's...

Hither N Yon 2010

Apr 17, 2010 - Woof, Woof

From Peach Blossom Cluster. We arrived Wed. around noon and got a nice site on the lake and have awaken every morning at 6:00 to a hundred barking dogs. It's really been fun watching all the dogs perform but it has also been very interesting. We were very different and people probably wondered what we were doing here. All the RV's except for ours had multiple dog crates and pens outside and most of the inside interiors don't have furniture but have crates stacked up. As we were walking around one night, one of the motorhomes had their door...

Apr 10, 2010 - Andersonville National Historic Site

After Vicksburg we spent a couple of nights in Montgomery, Alabama. When we left Montgomery our trip took us across some really beautiful country into Georgia. We have spent the last 2 nights in Elko, Ga. (about 20 mi. S of Macon). The weather has been so wonderful...and the area is beautiful!! We have really been enjoying this part of our trip. One of the main things I wanted to see while we were here is The Andersonville National Historic Site. Andersonville was the largest POW camp of the Civil War. It didn't open until 1864...and was...

Mar 28, 2010 - Early Spring In Central Georgia

We have spent the last four days commuting between Perry where we have parked the coach and Dublin where Patricia's mother lives. During the drives we've seen the Spring blossoms on the pear trees and other assorted trees I can't identify, as well as fields of wild flowers. Tomorrow we will head west, stay tuned...

Feb 28, 2010 - Landed in Perry, GA

Well, we didn’t get away quite as early as expected, but still we were parked and set up in Perry by mid afternoon. Thankfully, and exactly what we like, our drive from Silver Springs was uneventful. We don’t really have a plan for our visit here. Our first priority is to get Gene’s tooth fixed. We, of course, want to spend some time with family. My brother lives in Macon, I have a nephew and his wife and son who live in Perry, and another nephew and his wife in Warner Robins. We could easily spend countless hours with them. Besides family,...

Scratchin' the Itch

Dec 16, 2009 - OTRA - GA - Perry

12/16/09 Well, we decided to try for Perry GA again….and today we made it!! Drove I-575 to I-75 and on through Atlanta which wasn’t too bad around noon. There’s still a lot of traffic going every which way but we did make it through without a scratch. About ½ hour after that, we left I-75 via west on GA-16 towards Griffin. Very nice 4-lane divided highway, very little traffic. This part of Georgia (south of Atlanta) must be where the Southern Pine comes from. There are many tree "fields(?)” (actually many acres each) with huge tall straight...

Oct 30, 2009 - North to Georgia

I left Florida late this morning. The route heads west and then up Route 1, Route 82, and I75. There are alot of cotton fields along the way. It's time for the harvest. Stopped at Walmart in Perry, GA. When I got there, I was surprised to see the Fireman's Fair in the parking lot.

Apr 27, 2009 - Monday, April 27 – Sheltie National in Perry Ga

Cricket competed in Open A. We did well until she lay down on the sit stay again. She just can see no reason to sit there for 3 minutes when she could lie down and be comfortable. The fly that bit her on the ear didn’t help either. So, now we are ready to head out on our loooong trip and the Papillon Nationals.

Mills Spring 2009

Apr 26, 2009 - Sunday, April 26 – Sheltie National in Perry Ga

Cricket and Connie Fleming’s Morgan competed in agility. None of us qualified but we did have a good time and the courses were nice. We enjoyed spending time at the vendors and I bought a sheltie magnet, a sheltie rescue tee shirt and ordered a beautiful jeweled tee that will have both a sheltie and a papillon design with the agility Aframe and Tunnel.

Mar 26, 2009 - Georgia State Jamboree

My trip to Georgia was to visit a Georgia State Good Sam Jamboree , to see what it is all about. It is about people getting to talk, see, and listen about RV fun. To be with other people who travel this life style called RV FUN. There was about 850 RV rigs at the jamboree, all enjoying the funship of friends. I got to learn alot about my travel trailer, the do's and don'ts and how to have fun with 16000 people that you don't know , when you first arrived. You may not get to remember their names , but you know the faces. Where else can you go...

Mar 20, 2009 - FMCA Rally in Perry, GA

"FMCA" stands for Family Motor Coach Association - a large group of people like us who live either fulltime in a motor coach or spend many months traveling in one, then return to their "stick built" home. As you can see, I am beginning to learn the RV lingo! We arrived on Sunday afternoon, the day before the rally began. It was RAINING hard and many of the motor coaches already at the Georgia Fairgrounds where the rally was held, were standing in deep puddles of water. As rain was predicted for a couple more days, we knew there was a large...
