Rolled 5 hours North to an FMCA Rally in Georgia. Met up again with friends; Diane, Mary and Larry from Jacksonville. Attended lots of technical seminars, ate peach cobbler (yes, it's Georgia), ate peach ice cream (once again, Georgia), got entertained by a comedian and singers and had our bus weighed to see if we have the correct tire pressure on these huge tires. Weight was good and even. Just needed to take front tires to 115 pounds..

Up and Rovin

Mar 11, 2019 - FMCA

When we arrived at the fairgrounds we were first told they may have overbooked the 50 amp generators, not true. They were sitting there but it took about 2 1/2 hours for enough RV's to be parked before they started them. Clouds were building and the weather looked grim but they did get them going before the rain hit. Andy and Jo are in Macon and it looks as if the worst weather is going there. People next to us just bought a 2003 American Eagle and we are having good conversations with them. He took is awning down with a manual crank - Ray...

Mar 13, 2018 - FMCA Rally, Perry, GA

It was a very pleasant 130 miles straight north on I-75 to the Agricultural Center on the south side of Perry where many RV clubs have rallies. Rallies are popular here as the grounds have hundreds of acres of parking and the facilities are terrific. FMCA stands for Family Motor Coach Association an RV club that initially started just for drivable RV's, but now is open to all self-contained RV's, towable or driven. When we drove into the facility to our assigned area, we were directed by a parking crew to a row and spot makeing sure we're...

Mar 13, 2018 - FMCA Perry GA

We drove to Perry. Andy and Jo are going with their friends and left before us. They are staying in the dry camping section and we chose the 50 amp section. It is well located, closer to the main entrance although we are in grass and the generator is a portable set up. When we were parked the generator was not running - about 30 minutes later the service came to start it up. We have Dish and the spot is level so it's good. I went to a seminar by Geeks and it was good, lots of tips. Overwhelming. We went to the evening entertainment - it was...

2018 Trip

Aug 23, 2017 - Perry, Georgia

From Dayton, Tennessee, we went down what we call the “back way”, Rt. 27 to Chattanooga and came out on I-75 farther down, instead of going east across Rt. 30 where our property is near Athens, then south from there. We scooted across the line into Georgia, got around Atlanta with a minimum of tie-up, and stayed in our favorite Georgia town, Perry. The campground, Fair Harbor was fine and said, for future reference, they can accommodate a motorcycle trailer when we come through and stay there. We would have gone to the bar/restaurant we...

Mar 16, 2017 - headed back

With somewhat sad hearts we headed out of The Great Outdoors for the long trip home. We really enjoyed our stay here both in terms of the people we met, the things there are to do in the area as well as TGO, and the weather. We'll be back, but current plans have us heading west again next winter. But those plans are carved in jello. Last night the road we planned to take west toward Orlando was closed due to wildfires. It is hard to reconcile all the wild fire concerns we hear in the news with the green foliage and water, water,...

Mar 15, 2016 - FMCA convention

We drove on Tuesday to the FMCA convention at the Perry GA fairgrounds, Jo and Andy were nose to tail so we could park together. We were later in the afternoon and it took some time to get parked but the volunteers must have been tired. At first a 2007 Eagle with a similar paint scheme was next to us but he couldn't get his generator to work and moved to a generator spot. The Allegro Bus that pulled in next to us then was 2 sisters with 11 dogs. They were really interesting, had a big pen for them but didn't leave them out without...

2016 Eagle trip

Apr 3, 2014 - Thurs. Day:170

Apr. 3, 2014 - Day 170 It is with a sadden heart that I tell you that it is sunny & warm (a mere 65*F) this Thurs. morning in Jasper, Fl. & by the time we get to Perry, GA it will be around the 85*F mark; sorry. We had a nice drive & pretty stress free too I might add. We arrived here at a half decent time & setup, but there were no one in the office so we took the first site we saw & hoped for the best & to make a long story short we didn't get the PA price but we only got the Good Sam price. We then went to Lane Peach & Pecan Orchards &...

Mar 18, 2013 - Perry, Georgia

We spent Friday and Saturday nights in Perry, GA 132 miles north of Valdosta. Brad picked the campground in Perry because I was meeting a friend for lunch on Sunday in Locust Grove - just south of Atlanta. He also picked that campground because they had cable TV and he wanted to watch the Big East Basketball Tournament. It worked out very well. The campground was nice and set on a pretty lake/river (I'm not sure what it was and it may have been hand made but it meandered through the park. Perry is a nice town of about 16000 with an historic...

Nov 16, 2011 - Lobster and Trisha Yearwood

Just a quick note to keep up to date. We are trying to get back to Maine, but not having a lot of luck. Ended up getting a load of Perdue chicken out of Perry, Georgia going to Norfolk, Virginia that delivers on the 17th. Not that close....hopefully can get to Maine after this. So we starting north on I-75 and I called the Perdue plant, asking if our trailer was loaded yet. She politely informed me (everyone is Georgia is polite) that our load wasn't going to be ready until 12:30 tomorrow afternoon. Uh-oh.....upon closer inspection of our...
