Oct 21, 2012 - Travel Days!!!
We had a good day of travel today. Left the house about 10am and traveled to Lake Park, Georgia. It is about 5 miles above the Florida line. We stayed at Eagles Roost RV Resort. It was a pretty cool place, with Spanish Moss hanging in the trees. Hosts were very friendly, and helpful. The only issue is mosquitoes and black flies.. But that is what it is. We make good mileage, about 10.5mpg. I prayed for 10 and hoped for 11. Good nite.!!!

Nov 7, 2011 - Rested a little at Grassy Pond, GA
This little military campground was quiet and a good place to rest for a day. We were under pecan trees and they kept falling on the camper which was not really relaxing. They are old trees and the pecans were small with a very hard, thick shell and not much meat. Not the kind you sit and eat. I couldn't even crack the shell with a pair of pliers.

Oct 28, 2011 - another big travel day
I found out there is a new facility fee that will cost me $90 plus a badge fee of $8 effective November 1. My land ladies encouraged me to get to Carefree before then to avoid those fees this year, so I just drove in the rain and clouds. I really wanted to get into Florida, but I stopped for gas and propane here and it was getting dark. I parked here last year on the way north, so I went to the same spot and spent the night. I'm glad i stopped here because my car didn't like that I went almost 12 hours with it on in the accessory mode. The...

Aug 8, 2011 - Okefenokee Swamp and Stephen Foster Park
Aug 8, 2011 Day 2 and I am in Lake Park GA. I was intending to visit a plantation today, but found out that it is closed on Mondays. Luckily I found it out before I drove fifty miles to see it! So time to regroup and pull out the maps. I had always wanted to see the Okefenokee Swamp. Goodness knows why, with all the swamps in FL; but I did. Guess it was because of Pogo or just the mystery of it. So off I went to explore—Turns out that there is a Georgia State Park, Stephen C Foster State Park right in the middle of the wildlife...

Aug 7, 2011 - The Adventure Begins
Aug 7 After a wonderful, fun campout at Homosassa River RV Park I am on my way for my northern wander. I left this morning early and so enjoyed seeing the mist floating among the trees. I remember when the kids were small; I would tell them it was the rabbit’s campfires. The mist burned off and the day was very sunny. I loved the way the light flickered through the trees. I also was treated to several rafters of turkeys that were “grazing” right next to the road. One of the rafters must have had thirty birds. I am more used to seeing...

Jun 5, 2011 - Lake Park GA
No update Sunday night, basically due to lack of time and motivation. We left Stone Mountain at 10:30 for the 1+ hour trip to Sharpsburg GA to visit with my Aunt, Uncle, 2 of 3 cousins and their kids. We got there just before noon and did some talking and some eating and then we got on the road at about 3:30 to head south. We had a good time and it was nice to see everybody again. Trip south was really good – very little construction, light traffic and good weather so it was pretty painless. Except for getting gas near Warner Robins – 2...

Apr 20, 2011 - Georgia on my mind!
This entry notes that I traveled over 300 miles from North Fort Myers to the Georgia border. I stopped at a couple of rest areas and at the last one, the entry steps didn't come out when I opened the door, and then the engine wouldn't start until I press the Aux Start switch! uh oh! I stopped at the Flying J here in Georgia where the gas costs $3.699 but had to coax the engine to start even with the aux switch. So, I called my emergency road service and explained what's going on. Sounds like the engine battery is dead, so tomorrow morning,...

May 27, 2009 - On the road...at last!
Our first stop on our long journey was to visit my parents in Lake Park. We enjoyed the time we had with them so much. They are the most amazing people you will ever meet. My Dad loves Jesus and God with all his heart and he shares that love with everyone. He also loves people...all people!! My Mom is a lady with a BIG heart; she loves everyone, too and would do everything she could for anyone she meets. They are raising my great-niece, Raina, along with help from my baby sister, Beth; lovingly called BeBe. We enjoyed a great dinner and...

Oct 17, 2007 - McDonough, GA to Lake Park, GA
We traveled on I-75 to southern Georgia, clicking off about 220 miles in a few hours. The Eagle's Roost RV Resort is right next to the highway and it is pretty buggy - SSSs. Joyce did a little shopping at the nearby Outlet Stores and we BBQd, retiring inside early. Both dogs seem to have an upset stomach, so we're watching them very closely.
