Jul 10, 2011 - Big Canoe - The Georgia Mountains

We are now in the mountains of Georgia. We left Atlanta Saturday evening right after our Aquarium visit. It was amazing! It was the best aquarium I have ever been to. And you know how much I have been around. Our drive to the mountains was about an hour and a half. We saw lots of trees. I kept asking to stop the car. I knew the trees must have smelled delicious! But they wouldn't stop! We got to Big Canoe and found our room. It was so cute. Sunday, our friends Richie and Jan took us out on a pontoon boat. I have never been on a pontoon boat...

Nov 8, 2010 - Just a tho't...

I’ve just been looking out the window thinking about how the pictures I send can’t give a real idea of what it’s like here in the mountains... they can show the red clay... and the trees... and the dogs on their walks... but they can’t let you see so many parts that make this place special. I can’t get a picture of the little carolina wren who spent part of this morning hopping about in the plants on the deck. Ki very much enjoyed her morning! I can’t let you see how the sun sets here behind the mountain to our west before it does in the...

Nov 6, 2010 - Few new words...

Phil flew out on Thursday to spend some time with the Lund hunting crew again so Ann and I are having fun rearranging things and cleaning out bookshelves for the booksale down at the Lodge next spring! It took the furkids a day or two to get used to Dad not being here but now the routine is set and they're having fun, too. Lily spends time on the couch bonding with Ann and, of course, since there's now an empty spot on the bed beside me, Bran doesn't want to waste it so she hops right up there and keeps me warm! ^_^ Ki has decided she...

Nov 2, 2010 - Lily on location... et. al.

Lily seems to have taken to this lifestyle.... especially when we get to spend time in a spot that's this neat!!! ^_^ We even left all three girls home alone for awhile today while we ran errands and they were fine when we got home! Whew! I always panic about that the first few times!! *)* One more day before P flies back up to MN for deer hunting... I believe 10 days up there would totally freeze me solid anymore!!... It's been a long time since I've been in really cool weather... and I LIKE it like that!!! I guess the pictures explain...

Oct 30, 2010 - We're here!!!

There's always a lot of excitement from the furkids when we get close to Auntie Ann's house!! Bran & Ki know the road from the first hill! ^_^ They can't wait... and now Lily is totally onboard with that idea!!! They've been playing nonstop this AM!!! We were especially glad to see Ann this time.... there had been an accident on the mountain road we both drive to get to Big Canoe so we had to turn around and use another road... *)* We knew she wouldn't have been very far ahead of us and we couldn't get her on her cell phone nor on her home...

May 4, 2009 - You can't grow old too fast!

Here's a brief shot of the life we lead down here! ^_^ Anything for fun... they say! Gotta love the bubble wands... especially the huge ones on sale at Wallyworld. Oh well... life goes on.... Tomorrow P & I and the furkids head out on the trek north. We'll try to make it as far as Chattanooga for Tuesday nite. We have a lot of "putting away" to do after moving in with Auntie Ann for a week! ^_^ Haul it all back to the A/S and put it all away again. sigh We all love being in a real "house" for a while! We're on our way up to Jackson Center,...

May 4, 2009 - Just when you think....

I had a great little 'blurb' written for these pictures but it wouldn't load with the pics!!! It was a section of Big Canoe that's almost European ... three level homes and winding streets. Wouldn't want to live there but it was fun to travel through. These are "Fringe Trees" ... labeled by Stephen, Ann's friend. Wish they grew up in Minnesota! ha You just never know what you'll run across down here! ^_^ Love to all.. P & E

May 2, 2009 - Note from Bran & Ki

^_^ It's a tuff life up here! We have to rest up so we can charge back & forth down the hallway in close pursuit of each other! Occasionally I have to go sleep on Auntie Ann's bed while Brandi sleeps on Mom & Dad's bed in the guest room. Most of our time is actually spent watching the wildlife out on the screened porch. Especially when the bear went through the yard! Made my hair stand ON end!!! I was watching Brandi to see what we were supposed to do... And then we had the lightening storm and all Brandi did was lay there sleeping on the...

Apr 30, 2009 - Botany 101 again... w/questions!

Here's another question!!! I need all forestry/botany people to come foreward!!! Shelly, Clayton, Dick????? ^_^ The leaves have come out almost full since we got here... Ann's screen porch and back yard is like being in a treehouse! Hopefully I'll have more pics tomorrow. We have a bluebird with a strange and wonderful personality. ^_^ Love to all... P & E

Apr 28, 2009 - Backtracking a bit....

Had to go back a few days and take you on a shopping trip to the Garden Store with us! These things come in all sizes and shapes, but this was one of the best I've been at! Lauri's taken me to some in Florida and also in Colorado like this! What a great place that would be to work.... if one really wanted to work, that is... *,* We drove down the mountain yesterday to do some minor shopping at the "Foothills"... I brought the camera with us just in case, but there's so much to see and it comes so quickly around the bend that it's easier to...

Apr 26, 2009 - Finally.. the rest of the garden tour!

As always, the camera doesn't capture the real "Oh, wow" but here's the real sample of the Geddins homestead! No wonder they wanted to get back from Florida earlier than the rest of us did! ^)^ And they've done all the work themselves... it was just a bare lot when they had the house built. Hey, Guys... Great work! Now that we're at Ann's mountain home, we'll have more pictures in a bit... and a surprise visitor! Love to all.... P & E

Apr 24, 2009 - A few of the Geddin's gardens...

We made it to Big Canoe early this afternoon. So now we have all the backlog of pictures to put on from the two days at Dillard. Wow... it's nice to have a direct connection to the Internet again! ^_^ These pictures don't begin to do justice to what Bob & Karin have done to their place! Every inch is covered with shrubs, flowers, bulbs, etc plus lawn art and fountains, etc. What a great time we had... ^_^ Will put more on later.... have to run some errands! God Bless, P & E
