Okefenokee... National Wildlife Refuge (Land of the Trembling Earth) This Refuge was established in 1937 to preserve the rare and beautiful Okefenokee Swamp. The refuge covers almost 402,000 acres (628 square miles). These waters remain one of the most well preserved freshwater areas in America.
