Oct 23, 2012 - Camp Nelly Park & environs...

This park has everything you expect and love in a campground... but it's all been "North GA Mountainized"! ^_^ First thing you notice is the size of the sign out front... "catch me if you can... size"... then you get caught up in the size of the 'office'. Very nice lady to help us... has beautiful white hair and has one well taken care of tooth on her top gum that fits perfectly into a space on the bottom. Across from the tiny office is the tiniest laundry we've seen so far... but neat and clean. The pictures tell more of the story than I...

Oct 16, 2010 - Ellijay Georgia

Ellijay Georgia Oct 16-19 2010 We have been to Ellijay Georgia before but this year was a little different. The annual apple festival was in full swing.. Lots of people and festivities in this mountain town. We have friends, Temp and Karen, in Ellijay and when we are in the general area we always stop by for a visit. It is a double blessing as we get to visit and see the area. This part of Georgia is really pretty nice. The trees are taking on their fall colors and like most areas of the United States people are very friendly. Just driving...

May 17, 2010 - Gadsden, AL to Ellijay, GA

Traveling with Carol, Lou & Beau .... When we left AL, our trip to GA had pretty good roads, little traffic, and very little construction. All of the above pleased us and made our trip pleasing! We were returning to see Jeanne & Jack in Jasper, GA. We stayed in Ellijay - at the Plum Nelly Campground, where we stayed in the summer/fall of 2008 to be with Jeanne through her chemotherapy. Not much had changed in the park, but having been here before, we were able to get the same site we had, which was the best one we thought. We knew Jeanne is...

Jun 9, 2009 - Savannah to Ellijay

As we started home I was feeling good and decided to check of the distance to Ellijay. My GPS said it would only take 3 hours longer to go by there, so we drove to Beth & Ed's home in Ellijay. We had a nice visit and went out to eat with them at Longhorns for dinner. Had excellent ribs and throughly enjoyed our visit. Slept well again.

Mar 21, 2009 - Made It To Ellijay, Georgia.

We didn’t have a bit of trouble getting here. In fact, we made the trip in about 3 and a half hours. It was just 176 miles from Opelika, Alabama. I thought we would be slowed by the traffic in and around Atlanta, but as it turned out, we were able to take the 285 by pass clear around Atlanta, so it was pretty quick. There was a lot of traffic, but it was moving well. We got here about 11:30 A.M. Eastern Time, but they are on Mountain Time I guess. It was already 1:30 here. We got that all straightened out, then got the RV set up. When we...

Jul 16, 2008 - Arrival in Jasper/Ellijay, GA

Traveling with Carol, Lou & Beau ............ As we left Stone Mountain and I think both Lou & I were dreading the worst going around and near Atlanta. Well ..........we only had one slow spot and we were in the right lane, staying out of everyone's way. It seemed there was a lot of speeding, but then we only go 55 tops. Less stress and better mileage! The Jasper area has a lot of mountains around it. We haven't seen the town per se yet. We are going over to our friends, Jeanne and Jack's tomorrow for lunch and a visit. We got settled in...
